Sports fans are suddenly being bombarded with political messaging.
Professional leagues and players have decided to step out of their roles and wade into politics.
Now an NFL player angered fans with one dumb gun control message.
Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Tyler Lockett is yet another sports figure who has chosen to enter the gun debate.
In the wake of the horrific shooting in Uvalde, Texas, Lockett tweeted:
I went to Vancouver Canada this past weekend! And from what I know it’s illegal to carry weapons there. Idk why the U.S can’t do the same.

Lockett is wrong for several reasons.
First, he’s wrong about the actual gun laws in Canada.
So much wrong here. I can carry a semi auto rifle on my shoulder down Granville street legally. Second, the US shootings aren’t with automatic weapons, semi auto. Third, plenty of semi autos remain legal in Canada. Just the ones that looks carry seem to be getting banned.

Second, criminals do not follow the law.
If guns are outlawed, only outlaws have guns.
And America has enshrined the right to bear arms, much to the frustration of the international left.
Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau recently introduced gun control legislation that would ultimately lead to confiscation of firearms.
Trudeau said, “As a government, as a society, we have a responsibility to act to prevent more tragedies…We need only look south of the border to know that if we do not take action, firmly and rapidly, it gets worse and worse and more difficult to counter.”
The New York Times and other outlets fawned over Trudeau’s declaration, but the paper also weakened its own gun control argument.
The Times reported that “the handgun sales ban and the proposed assault weapons law are the latest in a series of steps Mr. Trudeau has taken to restrict firearms since 22 people were killed in rural Nova Scotia by a gunman in 2020, in the deadliest rampage in the country’s history. The legislation, which could apply to tens of thousands of firearms, is expected to pass.”
So the laws that Lockett supposedly favors did not stop a mass shooting in Canada.
None of these realities are deterring the left.
Democratic Socialist Congressman Mondaire Jones said during session, “You will not stop us from advancing the Protecting Our Kids Act today. You will not stop us from passing it in the House next week and you will not stop us. If the filibuster obstructs us, we will abolish it. If the Supreme Court objects, we will expand it. And we will not rest until we have taken weapons of war out of circulation in our communities. Each and every day, we will do whatever it takes to end gun violence, whatever it takes.”
The goal is clear: the gun grabbers are coming for people’s weapons.
