NFL players protesting the National Anthem will be in full force next season.
The flimsy stance that the NFL has on these anti-American protests is so embarrassing for the league they are losing fans at a rapid pace.
But what one team owner confessed about the NFL instructions for all of the owners on the anthem protests will seriously make your jaw drop.
The NFL has found itself in one heck of a predicament lately.
They absolutely need these players for the product on the field but they also don’t want to anger their fan base by having their games used as a platform for spreading anti-American propaganda.
NFL owners and league executives refuse to stand up to their players so they end up getting tugged in both directions.
Here’s a hint, the customer is always right.
But Cincinnati Bengals owner Mike Brown shockingly revealed that all team owners were instructed to keep quiet on the issue of player protests.
What that means is that the NFL office has a stranglehold on what the owners choose to do with their teams and the rules they plan to implement.
Brown told ESPN, “The league and the union are talking on this, and we’re instructed to stand down while that’s ongoing. I’m not going to sit here and stir the pot. They don’t want to hear from me right now. Let’s see how this bubbles up, and I hope they can come up with some kind of answer that is acceptable to not just the club and the players but more the public.”
This is what’s bizarre about everything going on here. These owners should have full control over their employees’ actions while they’re on the job.
In any other profession or industry, if an employee went rogue and started aggressively telling the customers how they feel about any political or social problem then it would be grounds for termination. And nobody would blink an eye over it.
Why should being a spoiled multimillionaire athlete in the NFL be any different?
Brown absolutely thinks he’s lost many fans due to the protest and given the fact that it’s Cincinnati, which is a big part of working-class America that has the biggest problem with anti-American players disrespecting their families/ancestors who’ve given their lives for that very flag.
The Bengals owner also suggested that critics of these players are not “fully understood.”
Brown said, “These issues are not generally fully understood by the people that criticize. And it has taken the focus off what we want the people to be looking at: the game itself. That’s where the excitement is, not these periphery issues.”
Actually, it’s pretty simple. The reason why they’ve lost fans is because these players are tone-deaf because they have an uneducated view of history and what patriotism means to millions of us.
The good news is that Cowboys owner Jerry Jones completely ignored the NFL’s instructions to pipe down about it.
Jones’ new policy is that all of his players will stand for the anthem with “toe on the line.”
This came just after the NFL and NFL Players Association agreed to suspend the rule banning players from kneeling with either fines or possible suspension.
Jones is leading the charge and these other owners need to back him up or face the consequences monetarily with their franchise.
And the next season kicks off in about 6 weeks so they don’t have a lot of time to decide.
