The outrage mob has everyone on edge.
People rightly feel that their livelihoods could be blown up at any moment.
Now one NFL head coach was just “canceled” and the reason why is shocking.
The Las Vegas Raiders got off to a promising 3-0 start, but their season and their future are now in flux after a two-game losing streak.
But the losses are the least of their problems.
Head coach Jon Gruden was forced to resign after embarrassing private emails sent in 2011 surfaced.
Gruden said in a statement:
“I have resigned as Head Coach of the Las Vegas Raiders. I love the Raiders and do not want to be a distraction. Thank you to all the players, coaches, staff, and fans of Raider Nation. I’m sorry, I never meant to hurt anyone.”
Gruden was first accused of being a racist after he said of NFL Players’ Association Executive Director DeMaurice Smith, who is black, “Dumboriss Smith has lips the size of michellin tires.”
Gruden apologized for the insensitive remark and explained that he identifies liars by calling them “rubber lips.”
Gruden’s awkward explanation and the support of black colleagues and players seemed to stave off the cancel mob, but another cache of emails were released, and the backlash was too severe.
From The New York Times:
“He denounced the emergence of women as referees, the drafting of a gay player and the tolerance of players protesting during the playing of the national anthem, according to emails reviewed by The Times. Gruden’s messages were sent to Bruce Allen, the former president of the Washington Football Team, and others, while he was working for ESPN as a color analyst during ‘Monday Night Football.’”
Gruden stepped directly on multiple third rails, which effectively ended his career in football.
The NFL recently put out an ad for Gay Pride Month, so there was no way Gruden could keep his job after using the word “queers” in an email.
Gruden also insulted Joe Biden, calling him a “nervous clueless p*ssy.”
Even Gruden’s past accolades are being erased.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the team he led to a Super Bowl victory, announced they will be removing Gruden from the franchise’s ring of honor.

Gruden’s resignation throws the Raiders into further dysfunction.
Owner Mark Davis lured Gruden out of retirement and gave him $100 million to coach the team, and now they have to start from scratch.
Thus far, no other emails have been leaked as a result of the investigation into the Washington Football Team, which suggests somebody was out to get Gruden.
The cancel mob just collected another scalp.
