Sports leagues have been under constant assault the past few years.
Politics and pandemic guidelines have created persistent headaches for teams.
And an NBA star who defied Joe Biden has one strong message.
Joe Biden and the COVID regime have been attempting to bully all Americans to get the vaccine regardless of their individual health status.
Biden eventually threw in the towel after his unconstitutional mandate was struck down by the Supreme Court.
Also, Democrat governors and mayors began loosening COVID restrictions.
But not all cities and businesses have eased their prohibitions.
New York City still has strict guidelines in place.
That is the reason why Brooklyn Nets star point guard Kyrie Irving has barely played in games this season.
The foolish vaccine mandate barred Irving from playing in home games, but Irving was finally given a special exemption to play at home.
Irving said:
“I’ve been saying from the beginning with all this, it’s never been just about me, and any special privilege or exemption…I think there are a lot of people dealing with real consequences from being unvaccinated. And I don’t think it’s talked about enough in terms of our essential workers and people on the frontlines, and it’s just it’s a whole community of us that really want to stand together.”
Initially, the Nets kept Irving from participating with the team entirely.
But as Brooklyn’s season started to go south, the Nets allowed Irving to play in road games.
Now with Brooklyn’s season on the brink, Irving finally got an exemption.
The New York Knicks’ season quickly went south after a promising start, so the city is anxious to have at least one team in the playoffs.
Irving added:
“And though I’m very appreciative of Mayor Adams doing what he did, and everyone in our Nets organization, everyone sending in notes to the mayor and tweets or Instagram posts or wherever you call it. You know, now is the time to really get all of us included and get everybody back to work so we get some normalcy around here. But I know everybody still feels it, and there’s a whole community of people that have lost their jobs due to this mandate as well. And I’m just putting care out for them most importantly, and standing alongside of them.”
The height of COVID theater came when Irving was allowed to cheer on the Nets as a spectator in the arena, but he could not suit up for them.
Even ardent COVID hysterics had to admit that was nonsensical.
The political class and the corporate press have pivoted to full-on coverage of the war in Ukraine, so COVID has become an afterthought in many ways.
But there’s always the possibility that Dr. Anthony Fauci could come back to impose new restrictions.
If the Nets miss the playoffs, they will have Fauci and the Democrats to blame for torpedoing Kyrie Irving’s season for no good reason at all.
