Be careful saying “All Lives Matter” on social media or the streets of America.
If you do say it, be prepared for the liberal mob looking to destroy your life over a sentiment that should be a widely held belief. They’ll go after your job first.
And that’s exactly what happened to this NBA announcer who has officially lost his job for saying “All Lives Matter.”
Apparently, when a superstar athlete reveals why the American Flag means so much to him, that’s enough for nationwide demonization.
New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees sparked a nationwide debate after posting a video sharing his stance against Anthem-kneeling because his grandfather fought in World War II.
The liberal backlash was so intense that it would be surprising if Brees plays another down in the NFL – probably ultimately leading to retirement.
NFL players around the league shamed him publicly. Even his teammates, like wide receiver Michael Thomas and running back Alvin Kamara, who both let him know they were disappointed and furious with the video. They perpetuated that Brees still doesn’t get why disgraced former San Francisco 49ers quarterback first kneeled in 2016.
For better or worse, Brees lost the locker room by posting that video. How can you be a quarterback in the NFL if your teammates don’t trust you?
Unsurprisingly, Brees apologized and 180ed on his original position. But Brees gained points over the weekend when President Trump tweeted he shouldn’t have apologized. The Super Bowl champion disagreed with the president, adding he didn’t understand why but now he does.
The quarterback is an important position. Have you seen how many bad NFL quarterbacks there are? Nearly one-third of starting NFL quarterbacks have no business playing the position. The point is the quarterback position is so hard to fill that teams will let anything go so long as he does his job – and does it better than other quarterbacks.
Unfortunately, that’s not what happened to Sacramento Kings announcer Grant Napear who allegedly “resigned” from his position after tweeting in all caps “ALL LIVES MATTER” in response to a question on the subject.
According to ESPN: “Napear, who has called games for the Kings since 1988, was answering a question from former Kings star DeMarcus Cousins, who asked Napear for his opinion on Black Lives Matter.
‘Hey!!!! How are you? Thought you forgot about me,’ Napear responded. “Haven’t heard from you in years. ALL LIVES MATTER…EVERY SINGLE ONE!!!’
Napear later apologized, telling The Sacramento Bee on Monday that he is ‘not as educated on BLM as I thought I was.’”
Still, it’s clear Napear was more expendable than Drew Brees, even though they both initially shared similar sentiments.
It’s important to note here too that DeMarcus Cousins and Napear have a long rivalry that goes back years when “Boogie” Cousins caused headaches for the Sacramento Kings over his first several seasons – constantly getting ejected from games for his attitude problem.
Napear frequently criticized Cousins.
That’s why Cousins set him up, knowing exactly how Napear would respond. And it’s okay to both marvel at the setup and also cringe at the unfairness of the consequences, which is that Napear lost his job. He not only lost his NBA announcer job but also his radio show at KHTK in the Sacramento area.
Napear admitted later, “I had no idea that when I said ‘All Lives Matter’ that it was counter to what BLM was trying to get across.”
Let’s face it, if the insinuation is that people who say “All Lives Matter” are uneducated, then it’s wrong to fire someone for that very reason. These people demonizing “All Lives Matter” need to get a grip on reality.
