Chalk up another leftist excuse as to why Hillary Clinton lost the election.
It couldn’t have been her smarmy demeanor; a recent play put on by NYU faculty swapped the gender roles of Clinton and Donald Trump and reenacted their first debate verbatim with mannerisms to match. “Male” Clinton was equally disliked.
It couldn’t have been her and her husband’s scandal-ridden past and general untrustworthiness.
It had to be something else.
Racism! According to the former Deputy Secretary of State, the country wasn’t ready to elect a woman after having elected a black man…twice.
From Mediaite:
The left has come up with a seemingly endless number of excuses and conspiracy theories, in an attempt to justify in their minds, how Hillary Clinton was defeated in the 2016 presidential election.
But MSNBC contributor and senior counselor at the Albright Stonebridge Group Wendy Sherman may have just come up with one of the more ridiculous excuses to date.
While discussing modern political technology at the Aspen Ideas Festival in Colorado, Sherman took the opportunity to weigh in with her absurd theory as to how Donald Trump achieved a historic victory at the polls last November. The former Deputy Secretary of State actually claimed that Hillary Clinton may have lost because Americans were not ready to elect the first woman president after electing the first black president.
“And I hesitate to say, but I think it’s critical, looking out at our audience, looking out at most of us — that there is no doubt that we just had eight years of an African American president is not a factor in all that we are experiencing today,” Sherman commented.
“When we make social change, when we make a decision to do something we have never done before, we then take two steps backward, at least. And I believe in my bones…that it was pretty hard to elect a woman after we elected the first African-American president.”
Yes, she actually said that.
Unable to cope with the fact that Donald Trump is President, some delusional folks on the left are still looking for any reason to explain what they believe to be inexplicable. And when all else fails, they just go with the standard racist or sexist excuse, even if it doesn’t make any sense at all.
Sherman was somehow able to use anti-black racism as an excuse for why a white woman lost an election. You almost have to admire that.
The Democrats seem to be cycling through the five stages of grief.
Denial: The left screamed #NotMyPresident and insisted the election was hacked by Russia.
Anger: The left incepted the #Resistance and said the nation was in the midst of a “constitutional crisis.”
Bargaining: CNN’s Sally Kohn and others concocted elaborate chains of events that would lead to Hillary somehow claiming the White House.
Depression: Democrats realized the Russian collusion story was going nowhere, and suddenly had nothing to rally around, causing fissures within the party.
The Democrats are still glumly wallowing in defeat over the election, blaming the country for not accepting a woman president after a two-term black president.
It’s that type of identity politics that has caused Democrats to lose a slew of seats nationwide. Labeling the opposition as racist/sexist/bigoted/Islamophobic is not a winning strategy.
The only stage left for the Democrats is acceptance.
Typical illiterate liberal pabulum.
