Entertainment media has swung radically to the left.
Films that push a political agenda often get showered with praise by critics.
And Hollywood just put out one insane pro-terrorism movie.
Radical environmentalism has become a central tenet of the left.
Joe Biden himself publicly promised to put the entire fossil fuel industry out of business as soon as possible, never mind the catastrophic ramifications.
With the President of the United States on board with the “green dream,” it’s no wonder we have unhinged activists willing to commit acts of eco-terrorism.
Leftists like the ones in the doomsday cult Extinction Rebellion will go to extremes in the name of saving the planet.
And Hollywood just made a movie for them.
How to Blow Up a Pipeline—yes, that’s the title—recently got a limited release, and was expanded to more theaters.
But thus far, the film has been a bomb of its own. After three weeks, the film has made about $832,000.
The movie was based on the 2021 book “How to Blow Up a Pipeline: Learning to Fight in a World on Fire” by communist Swedish activist Andreas Malm.
It’s no surprise there’s a massive overlap between radical environmentalists and communists because there has been a decades-long concerted effort by the hard left to push the “green” agenda in an attempt to seize control of the economy.
Of course, left-wing film critics loved it.
The film currently has a critics score of 95% on review aggregator site Rotten Tomatoes.
However, libertarian film critic Peter Suderman had a different take.
He argued that the film had the opposite effect of its intended purpose.
Suderman wrote in Reason magazine: “How To Blow Up a Pipeline may not be intended as an explicit justification for violence by climate activists…But the filmmakers are clearly sympathetic to their cause, to their plight, to their belief in the necessity of violence, and it treats its little army of activist protagonists as heroes.”
Anything up to violence is justified on the left because they have convinced themselves of their moral rectitude.
Ironically, many critics panned the 2019 film Joker because they claimed it inspired incel (involuntarily celibate men who struggle to find romantic relationships) violence.
The film did no such thing, and it was a massive hit at the box office.
Yet this film is literally heroizing eco-terrorism.
Suderman concluded: “But in the process of psychologizing their decisions, what it demonstrates is that the fringes of the climate activist movement are populated by delusional, too-online, apocalyptically-minded depressives who have chosen to blame fossil fuel companies for their own despondency. There’s real truth to this portrayal of agitated neurotics pointlessly lashing out, but it’s not the rousing call to arms the filmmakers seem to think.”
Radical leftists tend to be malignant narcissists, so they don’t even realize how jarring and off-putting they’re to normal people.
