Hollywood “wokeness” has become a parody of itself.
It’s gotten to the point where satire is almost indistinguishable from reality.
Now liberals are furious because of one TV show’s casting decision.
Many cultural institutions have become unbearably “woke” over the past few years.
Hollywood is perhaps the shining example of leftism running amok.
Celebrities are all too eager to jump on the latest woke trend.
One of the latest fads is that any actor who gets cast for a role must be a facsimile of the character in real life.
For example, deaf activists are furious that the CBS miniseries “The Stand” cast a hearing-abled actor to play a deaf character.
Members of the deaf community wrote an angry letter to the producers of the Stephen King adaptation that read:
“Enough is enough! We, the undersigned, are all professional union and non-union members and are taking a stand in the release of the miniseries, The Stand…The selection of the hearing actor to portray Nick Andros in The Stand is not acceptable. The character, Nick Andros is Deaf and signs. Not one Deaf professional actor was called in to audition for the role.”
This bizarre notion that actors must represent a lived experience to play a part is ridiculous.
That’s not how casting works.
Many decisions go into casting a part, and sometimes directors want actors to specifically play against type.
The letter continues:
“The decision was made without respect to and for Deaf professionals, union, and non-union alike. There was no acknowledgement given to the psyche of a Deaf character; being Deaf is more than just not hearing.”
The deaf community isn’t the only identity group making demands.
The #OscarsSoWhite movement argued that there weren’t enough nonwhite actors in the films nominated for awards.
Since then, the Oscars announced that films must meet a diversity quota in order to be considered for an award.
In the midst of the #MeToo scandal, actors began demanding an “inclusion rider” to ensure that more women were being hired and the pay commensurate with male counterparts.
Transgender activists harassed Scarlett Johansson out of playing a transgender man because she’s “cisgender.”
Ironically, Whoopi Goldberg, one of the stars of the show, is being called out by name over this incident even though she’s been one of the loudest megaphones for woke nonsense over the past few years.

The radical identity politics that have taken over the left are not going to lead anywhere good.
Soon, social justice bureaucrats will be approving all stories before they can advance into pre-production.
