Christians seem to be constantly under attack.
Several members of the Philadelphia Eagles were mocked for praising God after their Super Bowl, and now Joy Behar is going after Vice President Mike Pence.
Pence, the left’s whipping boy of the South Korea Olympics, was chided for being a bad Christian simply for existing it seems, but Behar’s criticisms went too far.
Behar, grating as ever, suggested Mike Pence was “mentally ill” because God speaks to him when he prays.
Perhaps Behar only has a problem with Christians who happen to be politically conservative.
From BizPacReview:
The View” host Joy Behar mocked Vice President Mike Pence as “mentally ill” for suggesting God speaks to him during prayer, but said nothing when Oprah Winfrey suggested God talks to her.
Oprah, a Christian, made the remarks when asked if she plans to run for president in 2020. “If God actually wanted me to run, wouldn’t God kind of tell me? I haven’t heard that,” Winfrey told CBS News.
On Tuesday, Behar criticized Pence for allegedly suggesting that God speaks to him during prayer. “It’s one thing to talk to Jesus. It’s another thing when Jesus talks to you,” Behar snarked. “That’s called mental illness, if I’m not correct. Hearing voices.”
For one thing, Pence never said that. Behar was reacting to a comment made on “Celebrity Big Brother” by fired White House aide Omarosa Manigault-Newman, who claimed Pence said something like that.
Vice President Pence reacted by slamming Behar for mocking his Christian faith, saying her comments are an insult to the millions of Americans who are Christian.
It’s also an insult to the billions of Christians globally. Christians are the largest religious group in the world.
“It demonstrates how out-of-touch some in the mainstream media are with the faith and values of the American people,” Pence said. “It’s just wrong for ABC to have a television program that demonstrates that kind of religious intolerance.”
Behar…walked back her anti-Christian comments on Friday following heavy backlash, claiming “it was a joke.” Keep in mind that Behar and other liberals would never dare mock Islam, whose followers must pray five times a day.
Meanwhile, Alveda King — the niece of civil rights icon Martin Luther King Jr. — said Behar and her ilk should check themselves before they wreck themselves.
“[Pence] can pray any way he wants to. This is America,” King told Fox News. “Martin Luther King Jr., my uncle, said he heard the voice of Jesus say ‘stand up.’ Was my uncle crazy?”
Behar’s anti-Christian remarks mirror those of other liberal commentators, who think it’s hilarious to mock and deride Christians but are deathly afraid to jab at Muslims.
Behar like to hide behind the “it was a joke” defense, but that doesn’t explain why she takes all of Donald Trump’s tweets so literally.
Behar exhibits a clear double standard that exists on the left: Bash conservatives and Christians all you want. If they’re one in the same, all the better.
