Hollywood liberals love to commend themselves for being so empathetic and tolerant.
But their empathy and tolerance do not extend to people on the right.
And one liberal comic admitted the awful thing Disney did to Gina Carano.
Comedian Bill Burr may be a liberal from Boston, but he despises the current “woke” trend sweeping through American culture.
It has caused a chilling effect on comedy and the entertainment world more broadly.
And in a recent Hollywood Reporter interview, Burr came clean about how left-wing cancel mobs took out MMA fighter turned actress Gina Carano.
Carano was a co-star on Disney’s The Mandalorian, but she was fired from the show for essentially voicing support for Donald Trump and criticizing draconian COVID policies.
Burr, who has also secured supporting roles in television shows like The Mandalorian and Breaking Bad, felt a pang of sadness when the interviewer mentioned the show.
Burr said, deflated, “That makes me think of Gina. How cool she was as a person …”
The interviewer then asked if it was fair that Carano was axed from the show, and Burr replied, “No…I thought it was funny that the liberals proved her point. They just use outrage because they don’t like your politics. As someone who considers himself liberal, it’s disappointing to see the left become how the right used to be when they went after the Dixie Chicks after they criticized George W. Bush. There’s not a lot of people like that — most are just trying not to get in trouble — but there’s this small collection of lunatics — either on the right or the left, at any given moment – that cause hysteria. And now there’s so many [media outlets] that want eyeballs, they make money off advertising, that they give attention to these crazy fringe people.”
Fortunately for Carano, soon after her “cancellation,” she reached a deal with The Daily Wire to produce and star in a film.
The western Terror on the Prairie is due to come out this year as The Daily Wire continues to build out its entertainment wing.
This is how conservatives and Republicans need to fight the left in the culture war.
Burr added, “The whole thing with Gina: You can’t chime in when the sh*t’s happening, because then you cause static for other people on the [show]…That somebody’s opinion — or their political beliefs — makes people try to destroy their ability to make a living, it’s f*cking bizarre to me.”
Leftists do not believe conservatives should be allowed to express their views at all.
That’s why conservatives need to build parallel institutions so people are not at the mercy of the left’s political whims.
Burr is one of the few anti-woke comedians who has stuck to his guns, and he’s been able to escape the left-wing chopping block.
More honest liberals should follow in his footsteps and speak the truth.
Meanwhile, people like Carano who step up need safe landing spots when leftists come for them.
