NBA superstar LeBron James is no fan of Donald Trump.
He’s used his platform to attack Trump numerous times on several issues since the 2016 election.
But one conservative host took LeBron to task for a ridiculous criticism he hurled at the president.
Early in his career, LeBron James said his main goal was to become a “global icon.” Not win championships, but become a worldwide celebrity.
To LeBron’s credit, he’s claimed three NBA titles but recently moved to a rebuilding of the Los Angeles Lakers team to play out the twilight of his career.
The move wasn’t facilitated by any amazing championship pitch from the Lakers brass. LeBron simply wanted to be in Los Angeles, the hub of worldwide entertainment.
LeBron is already juggling several film and television projects. The basketball has become secondary.
In his pursuit of international fame, LeBron has also waded into the political arena. He stumped for Hillary Clinton during the 2016 election, although he didn’t appear to bolster her campaign at all; exit polls show Clinton lost a considerable lead in LeBron’s home state of Ohio after his support.
LeBron has also taken several shots at Donald Trump, even calling him a “bum.”
Despite his shallow political musings, the left-wing media praised him for speaking out. However, conservative pundit Laura Ingraham called out LeBron for his superficial commentary.
Ingraham, who famously wrote a book called “ShutUp And Sing,” a response to the anti-Bush rhetoric of the music group the Dixie Chicks, said LeBron should “shut up and dribble.”
The left tried to paint Ingraham as a racist even though she’d used a variation of her notable “shut up” phrase many times.
Some members of the left even tried to get advertisers to pull sponsorship from her television show on Fox News.
Ingraham stood tall against the backlash and it eventually died down.
But now LeBron is back in the news attacking Donald Trump with foolish accusations.
LeBron made the insane claim that Trump is using sports to divide the country and that the Trump administration is moving the country back toward slavery and Jim Crow.
Ingraham pushed back on the ridiculous statement and pointed out that Trump wasn’t the one who used sports to divide people, it was the anti-American anthem protesters.
Ingraham said on Fox News:
“Why is the president dividing us along sports lines? People kneel at the National Anthem at football games. I mean, the people in the stands reacted to that. Trump spoke about it, but the fans didn’t like it.”
Ingraham is obviously correct. Sports have been one of the cultural touchstones that unify the country, but when Colin Kaepernick intentionally disrespected the American flag, he ripped at the country’s fabric.
Kaepernick began his protest in August 2016 back when Trump was given a minuscule chance of winning the presidency, so blaming Kaepernick’s stunt on Trump’s America is incorrect.
The dwindling flame of racial discord was again stoked by Barack Obama to win reelection in 2012, and the left has done everything in its power to grow the race divide since.
Donald Trump spoke out against the anti-American displays because the majority of the country did not support the protests.
Trump isn’t trying to divide the country. The American flag used to be a unifying symbol.
People on the left like LeBron don’t understand this concept, which is why Ingraham was right to call him out.
