Keanu Reeves is one of Hollywood’s biggest anomalies in the sense that most celebrities are self-aggrandizing and liberal to an extreme fault, alienating many of their fans, but not “The Matrix” star.
The 54-year-old actor has become somewhat of a living legend over the last several years because his ultra-genuine demeanor and gracious humility is infectious. He may not be the greatest actor in the world – truly he’s not – but who cares, his movies are great.
So here are Keanu Reeves’ top 10 movies ranked.
10) Always Be My Maybe
It’s Netflix’s brand new romantic comedy starring Ali Wong and Randall Park. It’s a run-of-the-mill romantic comedy plot structure but it’s the execution that separates this from the usual. It’s charming, hilarious and it has two incredibly likable leads.
It follows a pair of childhood best friends who fall for each other then have a huge falling out after they become intimate for the first time. And then years later, they’ve gone in complete opposite directions in terms of perceived success; she’s a celebrity chef and he works for his father’s air conditioning company.
But it’s Keanu Reeves who steals the show. Reeves plays, well, himself: Keanu Reeves. But he’s a wild overly distorted version of himself. Let’s just say at one point he asks the male lead to hit him as if he’s some secret masochist.
It might be Reeves’ funniest performance that’s almost in the vein of how people were shocked when they saw Tom Cruise in “Tropic Thunder.”
