Jay-Z (whose real name is Shawn Carter) is one of the most successful rappers and music producers in American history so it’s not at all surprising that the NFL reached out to him for a partnership.
The new deal will be a social justice campaign.
And now outraged liberals just blasted the new partnership between Jay-Z and the NFL for this stupid reason.
Roc Nation, the entertainment management company founded by rapper, businessman and social activist Shawn Carter – known as Jay-Z – has partnered with the NFL in an advisory role to help select music for the league’s flagship events, including but not limited to the Super Bowl.
Great, now the Super Bowl is going to be politicized.
Jay-Z told ESPN, “With its global reach, the National Football League has the platform and opportunity to inspire change across the country. Roc Nation has shown that entertainment and enacting change are not mutually exclusive ideas – instead, we unify them. This partnership is an opportunity to strengthen the fabric of communities across America.”
But you have to dive deeper and look at how the NFL evolved into partnering with the prolific rapper.
It all began back in 2016 when San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick first knelt for the National Anthem. After that it was a ripple that spread across America, sparking debate and simultaneously dividing the country.
It caused the NFL to lose millions of fans because entertainment is a form of escapism and we don’t need rich athletes condescending to working-class Americans – especially when you consider that those blue-collared working-class folks have relatives (or they themselves) who gave their life so Kaepernick could play a frivolous game.
Kaepernick is no longer in the league. Some say it was a result of his protest but others contend it’s because he wasn’t that great of a quarterback and the statistics of his last season prove that logic.
Nevertheless, the disgraced former quarterback sued the league for collusion and settled for an undisclosed amount, but in the meantime, many musicians and Hollywood elites united with Kaepernick.
Many of whom either protested doing Super Bowl commercials like Amy Schumer and others who protested performing during the halftime show like Jay-Z and his wife Beyonce.
Now they ‘re suddenly coming together for a partnership?
What exactly changed for Jay-Z?
And why would Kaepernick be okay with Jay-Z joining forces with the “archenemy?” The superstar rapper claimed to have spoken with Kaepernick before the deal.
Referring to Kaepernick and other NFL players kneeling during the anthem, Jay Z said, “I think that we forget that Colin’s whole thing was to bring attention to social injustice so in that case this is a success — this is the next thing. There’s two parts of protest: the protest, and then there’s a company or individual saying ‘I hear you, what do we do next?’ For me it’s about actionable items, what are we gonna do about it?”
Kaepernick will be furious when he finds out about this new partnership because Jay-Z has always been in his corner and he very well may find this to be an enormous backstab.
