Cancel culture has had a chilling effect on comedy.
Comedians are supposed to have a wide berth to speak the truth in a funny way.
But Stewart infuriated the left when he told one truth about COVID.
Former Daily Show host Jon Stewart caused a big stir for establishment Democrats back in 2021.
He appeared on Stephen Colbert’s late-night comedy show and said that COVID most likely came from the level-four biohazard lab in Wuhan, not the wet market across the street from the level-four biohazard lab.
Stewart said, “Oh, my God, there’s a novel respiratory coronavirus overtaking Wuhan, China. What do we do? Oh, you know who we could ask? The Wuhan novel respiratory coronavirus lab. The disease is the same name as the lab. That’s just a little too weird!”
A year and a half later, Stewart now hosts an Apple TV show called The Problem with Jon Stewart, and he addressed the Department of Energy recently releasing a statement saying they believed that the coronavirus most likely came from the lab.
When the topic was broached by his executive producer Brinda Adhikari, Stewart said, “Are you trying to cancel me again?”
Despite the uproarious laughs from Colbert’s audience that were probably relieved that somebody spoke the truth about the lab leak theory, Stewart’s appearance did not go over well with the Democratic establishment.
He was ripped by multiple left-wing outlets.
Dan Rather even called Stewart dangerous.
Stewart explained, “The larger problem with all of this is the inability to discuss things that are within the realm of possibility without falling into absolutes and litmus-testing each other for our political allegiances as it arose from that.”
Stewart elaborated on the massive pushback he received after his appearance on Colbert.
He continued, “I thought it was a pretty good bit that expressed how I felt, and the two things that came out of it were I’m racist against Asian people and how dare I align myself with the alt-right? … [T]he backlash was swift, immediate, and quite loud.”
Adhikari agreed with his point and added, “Wet market means you’re a Democrat and lab leak means you’re a Republican, and we were really puzzled by that one.”
Today @JonStewart talks to some of our staff about the news that the COVID-19 virus may, in fact, have leaked from a lab in China and what it reveals about the problem with the media narrative machine. Full episode drops Wednesday on @ApplePodcasts pic.twitter.com/tsaLUYzIRl

The propaganda and censorship around COVID has been off the charts.
It’s quite disturbing how the lab leak theory was dismissed so quickly, and people still don’t want to acknowledge it.
For instance, Senator Tom Cotton was pilloried for even suggesting the virus came from a lab.
Necon writer Anne Applebaum said back in 2020, “Wow. Just like the Soviet propagandists who tried to convince the world that the CIA invented AIDS.”
It turns out that Applebaum was the one akin to a propagandist, only she was doing the bidding of Communist China instead of Soviet Russia.
Applebaum was not alone in her condemnation of Cotton and the lab leak theory.
Thus far, there was been zero accountability.
