When “Jurassic World” came out in 2015 it was Chris Pratt’s coming out party as one of the biggest movie stars in the world. Directed by Colin Trevorrow and starring Bryce Dallas Howard and Vincent D’Onofrio, the movie centers on a brand new theme park on the same island as the original site but now they’re able to make genetically modified hybrid dinosaurs.
The sequel, “Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom” did not live up to expectations so the studio and producers had to mix it up.
And they’ve just announced a huge surprise for “Jurassic World 3” involving Steven Spielberg’s original “Jurassic Park.”
Steven Spielberg’s “Jurassic Park” is one of the greatest action/adventure movies ever made and was a landmark film in the pantheon of cinema due to its revolutionary special effects that changed the industry forever.
At first, Spielberg and producers wanted to try and make animatronics out of the dinosaurs, but getting them to move in the way that was necessary to portray them proved to be impossible.
Fortunately for them, at the same time they were trying to figure out how to make the dinosaurs look real, there was a massive breakthrough in special effects and when they sat Spielberg down to show him what they could do, it was like the transition from silent film to sound.
Everybody in that room knew how it would change the movie industry forever. And maybe the most mind-blowing part of the 1993 masterpiece is how the 27-year-old film still holds up to this day. There are special effects movies from ten years ago that can’t say the same.
But on top of the visuals and the beautiful score by legendary composer John Williams, “Jurassic Park” has an epic cast spearheaded by Sam Neil, Jeff Goldblum and Laura Dern. The human characters bring the story to life just as much as the realistic prehistoric dinosaurs.
Now director Colin Trevorrow has decided to turn back the clock and bring back the trio for the upcoming “Jurassic World 3.”
At ArcLight Cinemas in Hollywood on Tuesday night during a screening in “Jurassic World,” Trevorrow, alongside Laura Dern, announced to the audience that all three actors will reprise their roles for the sixth installment.
“Jurassic World 3” will mark the first time all three characters have been together since the original film 27 years ago.
Dr. Ian Malcolm (Goldblum) starred in the Spielberg directed sequel “Jurassic Park: The Lost World.” Dr. Grant (Neil) starred in “Jurassic Park III” with a cameo from Dr. Ellie Sattler (Dern). And Dr. Ian Malcolm also made a cameo appearance in the most previous film, “Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom.”
Dern was ecstatic about reprising her role and posted on Instagram, “Loved joining my buddy, Colin, to announce the return of the original cast of Jurassic Park back into the Jurassic World.”
And to add Chris Pratt to this mix of characters should make for an excellent dynamic where the original three will be condescending to Owen Grady (Pratt), but lest they forget that Grady has been through two ordeals too.
