Entertainment celebrities have been wagging their fingers at Americans for years.
But the tables have turned in light of the #MeToo Movement.
And one Hollywood star got caught up in a startling sex scandal.
Several high-profile people have been taken down amid accusations of misconduct ranging from sexual harassment to forcible rape.
Hollywood megaproducer Harvey Weinstein will likely spend the rest of his life in jail after being convicted on rape charges, and other celebrities have had their reputations torpedoed in the face of allegations.
Now actor Chris Noth from Law & Order and Sex and the City has been put on the chopping block.
Noth was recently fired from The Equalizer remake series after allegations of sexual assault piled up against him.
Two women named Zoe and Lily independently shared their stories to The Hollywood Reporter:
When she went to his apartment to return the book, Zoe says, he kissed her as she stepped through the door. She tentatively kissed back but then said, “Thank you, I’m going back to my friend.” The kiss itself didn’t alarm her; she thought a kiss from Mr. Big would be a fun story to tell her friends. But she says he then pulled her toward him, moved her toward the bed, pulled off her shorts and bikini bottom, and began to rape her from behind. She was facing a mirror. “It was very painful and I yelled out, ‘Stop!’” she says. “And he didn’t. I said, ‘Can you at least get a condom?’ and he laughed at me.”
In 2018, Noth played a villain on the British TV series Doctor Who that he says was patterned after Donald Trump:
“I played a character based loosely on him. It was actually the idea of Trump without being Trump…I’m worried about our country under his reign. Hopefully the Democratic Congress will regain our sanity.”
Perhaps Noth should have based the villain on himself instead.
The Hollywood Reporter continued:
Lily says she brought up that he was married with children. (Noth had married in 2012 and at the time had one child.) “He said marriage is a sham. Monogamy is not real.” The next thing she knew, “He was having sex with me from the back in a chair. We were in front of a mirror. I was kind of crying as it happened.” When it was over, she says, “I went to the bathroom and put on my skirt. I was feeling awful. Totally violated. All of my dreams with this star I loved for years were gone.” She called an Uber. Revisiting this brings her to tears, yet she says she finds it freeing to tell the story.
The nail in the coffin came when actress and writer Zoe Lister-Jones accused Noth of repeated inappropriate sexual comments during filming on Law & Order: Criminal Intent.
Lister-Jones also said Noth was constantly drinking on set.
Hollywood has been exposed as a town full of creeps and liars.
Nobody should be looking to the industry for moral guidance.
