Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been mired in controversy since their Royal Family split.
The couple’s public break from the family has only gotten more scandalous.
Now a Hollywood mogul put the brakes on one cringeworthy Harry and Meghan event.
It’s become quite clear that Prince Harry and Meghan need the spotlight.
One of the reasons they broke from the family was that Meghan was allegedly dissatisfied with the ironically low-key life of being a royal.
She still wanted to pursue her acting career and be involved in film and television projects.
And the two got their wish.
Harry and Meghan’s acrimonious split from the family led to deals with various media companies, including Spotify and Netflix.
The pair also made some celebrity friends along the way.
Film and television mogul Tyler Perry allowed them to stay in his home when they first came to America.
However, Perry was not interested in being part of a christening for their daughter, as it turned into a big spectacle.
From The New York Post:
“Tyler Perry is the godfather to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s daughter, Lilibet — and in the second part of the Netflix docuseries ‘Harry & Meghan,’ the Hollywood mogul admitted that he refused to travel to the UK for her christening. Perry, 53, said that his reason was that he didn’t want to ‘do all of that in the church with them and figure all of that out,’ implying that all the hullabaloo around the royal family was what put him off. ‘Maybe we can do a private ceremony here and let that be that,’ he said. ‘And if you have to do it there, then that’s OK.’”
Harry and Meghan have seemingly commodified their lives.
Their battle with the Royal Family escalated to a fever pitch when they sat for an interview with Oprah Winfrey and accused at least one family member of racism.
It’s been all downhill since.
The couple’s Netflix series has also been unkind to the family.
The Post continued:
“Perry famously let the couple stay in his $18 million LA estate after they first moved to the US in 2020 — an event that’s since been coined ‘Megxit.’ In ‘Harry & Meghan,’ it’s also revealed the couple hadn’t even met Perry before this. The filmmaker had simply reached out to Meghan after he saw negative stories in the press about her father Thomas Markle.”
The latest controversy facing the Sussex Royals is if they will attend Charles’s coronation to King of England.
Regardless of what happens, the couple will surely document it for a podcast or streaming service.
Harry’s relatives aren’t the only family members with which Meghan has beef.
She got sued by her own half-sister.
Fox News reported that Samantha Markle “accuses the Duchess of Sussex of defamation ‘based on demonstrably false and malicious statements’ made by Meghan in the sit-down interview viewed by millions around the world on March 7, 2021. Samantha, who shares father Thomas Markle with the duchess, claims Meghan’s ‘lies’ were ‘designed to destroy [her] reputation’ and have subjected her to ‘humiliation, shame and hatred on a worldwide scale…’”
The drama of the Sussex Royals is undoubtedly going to continue.
