Daytime talk show host and famous comedian, Ellen DeGeneres, is in a whole world of trouble right now.
Dozens of her ex-staffers have aligned together to expose the toxic environment on her hit television show, “Ellen.”
But Ellen DeGeneres just got a giant wakeup call that could be the end of her career.
Ellen DeGeneres is one of the most clueless privileged celebrities in America. The famous talk show host made this crystal clear when the pandemic first exploded in America and we were forced to isolate at home.
DeGeneres posted a video to social media saying, “Today I am filming this in my living room because it has the best light and sound and all the other rooms in my house are filled with toilet paper,” which is relatable because we all had a similar situation.
But then she said something that was so tone-deaf that it was remarkable to hear.
She said, “This is like being in jail,” while also claiming, “Mostly because I’ve been wearing the same clothes for 10 days and everyone in here is gay.” Can you imagine saying that with a straight face while you were sitting in your giant Malibu mansion?
That’s delusion of the highest form.
But apparently there was a delusion that was right in front of our faces the whole time because this happy cheery woman is actually an incredibly mean person behind the scenes, who created a toxic environment for her staff.
“The Ellen DeGeneres Show” is currently under internal investigation by its parent company WarnerMedia after a number of “toxic work environment” allegations have finally gained steam. Some of these allegations were actually unleashed a few years ago but they were never investigated.
In a report from BuzzFeed News, one current and 10 former staff members claimed to be victims of bullying and racism.
Citing sources, Variety revealed that a memo was sent to the show’s staffers last week announcing that WarnerMedia’s employee relations group has teamed with a third-party organization to conduct the interviews.
Eric Schiffer, chairman of Reputation Management Consultants, weighed in on how the results of the investigations could have “deadly consequences for Ellen” and her brand.
Schiffler said, “She could be perpetrating one of the biggest frauds in American celebrity history. There are now serious investigators looking into the allegations and if the findings are as damning as what has been reported then you could watch the ‘Ellen Show’ go boom.”
This is accurate to say this. Her actions imply her whole show is a scam. We don’t know a lot of specifics about particular examples of this toxic environment but many of her former staffers have expressed their opinions on Twitter without giving details.
When the investigation of the news broke, Schiffler said: “there have been too many assertions that are credible,” while also adding, “if the leadership team at WarnerMedia didn’t [act], they would feel the wrath of the public. I think Ellen has been arrogant in her entire approach in dealing with the allegations and it’s crazy for her not to accept responsibility for what is happening under her leadership. In Hollywood, the buck stops at the star’s name on the door, not at the producer level. It would be impossible for her to not know what [was] happening within her own staff.”
DeGeneres’ days look they’re numbered and there is chatter that James Corden will take over if the investigation concludes what we all think it will.
