The left is always moving further to the extremes.
And that shift is reflected in Hollywood.
Now a Hollywood actress just threw her hit show under the bus.
Liberals have been gradually moving further to the left since at least the 1960s, and the shift has dramatically picked up in recent years.
Ideas and concepts thought unbelievable not too long ago have been mainstreamed into liberal orthodoxy.
And the views of the left always get projected through entertainment media.
For example, the hit 1990s sitcom Friends, which was written by liberals, is now viewed as “problematic” by the woke leftists of today.
Co-creator Marta Kauffman and some of the cast members have apologized for the show’s so-called racism, transphobia, and other imagined slights.
A similar re-examination is happening with the hit American remake of the sitcom The Office.
Co-star and writer Mindy Kaling, who played Kelly Kapoor on the show, was recently asked when she’ll allow her kids to watch the show, and Kaling responded, “I think maybe never.”
That’s a pretty shocking statement considering her instrumental role in the show.
Kaling explained, “That show is so inappropriate now. The writers who I’m still in touch with now, we always talk about how so much of that show we probably couldn’t make now. Tastes have changed and, honestly, what offends people has changed so much now…People feel like there’s something kind of fearless about it or taboo that it talks about on the show.”
A liberal sitcom that ran from 2005 to 2013 has suddenly become “inappropriate.”
The left truly moves at breakneck speed.
Lesbian filmmaker Kimberly Peirce was excoriated by radical leftists for not casting a transgender man in the lead role played by Hilary Swank in the film Boys Don’t Cry…a film that came out in 1999.
For the American Jacobins, it’s always Year Zero and the past must be arrested because everything before the present was horrible and bigoted.
Kaling recently got in hot water of her own when she liked a tweet in support of Harry Potter author JK Rowling.
Rowling has become the nemesis of radical transgender activists because of her belief that men cannot become women and vice versa.
A far-left activist asked Rowling, “How do you sleep at night knowing you’ve lost a whole audience from buying your books?”
Rowling cheekily replied, “I read my most recent royalty cheques and find the pain goes away pretty quickly.”
Kaling liked Rowling’s remark, which triggered a torrent of backlash from the activist mob.
One activist said, “Mindy Kaling is a terf in case you needed another reason to dislike her.”
The term “TERF” stands for trans-exclusionary radical feminist, which is a derogatory term used by far-left transgender activists to attack liberal feminists who still believe that biological sex is real.
If a show that went off the air nine years ago is too inappropriate, then Kaling’s new show, The Sex Lives of College Girls, will probably be too “problematic” within months.
