Hollywood is changing rapidly. As that fateful night in August 1969 unfolded when Charlie Manson’s posse invaded the house of Sharon Tate and murdered the famous actress and her friends, things changed forever. It was the end of an era.
That same thing is happening right now. When the Me Too scandal broke in October 2017, Hollywood power players were exposed for being alleged sexual deviants, but also minorities and women were suddenly getting their overdue comeuppance.
But when some of those famous feminists claim one thing and do another, it’s a level of hypocrisy that is just infuriating. That’s what writer and actress Lena Dunham just did at the “Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood” London premiere.
There are so many women in Hollywood right now who are pointing fingers at “toxic masculinity.” So many horror stories have been leaked about men in positions of power who have taken advantage of them.
There’s a miniseries right now on Showtime called “The Loudest Voice” where Russell Crowe depicts Fox President Roger Ailes and some of the sexual deviances, whether it’s true or not, is harrowing. But in a vacuum, or a microcosm, this is where Hollywood is going with their new content. It’s almost like it’s an apology to women who were victimized.
Lena Dunham – known for writing and starring in “Girls“ – has always been one of those outraged Hollywood feminists who complain all the time about men in Hollywood.
In fact, one could argue that “Girls” is specifically about the type of toxic masculinity she condemns.
Dunham also plays a bit role in Quentin Tarantino’s ninth film “Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood” as one of Charlie Manson’s posse.
She showed up to the red carpet premiere for the high-profile movie in London England and tried to surprise Brad Pitt with a kiss on the lips when they were there. Pitt looked incredibly uncomfortable in that moment.
It was hypocrisy at its finest.
Yet, news institutions like Yahoo and The Blast perpetuated it as some sort of “cutesy” moment.
The Yahoo article says, “Lena Dunham has balls of steel because she grabbed one of the hottest A-listers in Hollywood and planted a big fat one on him. Dunham grabbed a surprised Brad Pitt and kissed him on the red carpet of ‘Once Upon a Time in Hollywood’ during the premiere in London on Tuesday night.”
This is what happened.

Imagine if the gender roles were reversed in this scenario? What kind of backlash do you think would happen? Do you think writers would praise it or do you think they would condemn it?
The Yahoo article also said, “It’s a ballsy move for the star to come at the Oscar winner so aggressively, but it’s no surprise because just days ago she admitted that flirting with him on the “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood” set was a career highlight. ‘It’s not every day I get to wear a mumu, go barefoot, flirt with #BradPitt, and join a cult … as a job,’ Dunham tweeted this past Friday.”
The hypocrisy is so obnoxious and tone-deaf that it’s hard to believe this actually happened.
