As most of you already know by now, actress Felicity Huffman is about to serve a horrifically light sentence of only 14-days for her role in the college admissions scandal.
The “Desperate Housewives” star pled guilty for paying a proctor $15,000 under the table to alter her daughter’s SAT scores.
And the Emmy Awards hilariously threw shade at Felicity Huffman during the ceremony.
The 2019 Emmy Awards occurred Sunday Night at the Microsoft Theater in downtown Los Angeles, California and the ceremony was largely as expected. The Emmy’s imitated what the Academy Awards did earlier this year by not having a host, which didn’t feel that odd at all. Instead, they had a bunch of different celebrity presenters.
For instance, an animated Homer Simpson acted as if he was going to host the awards show, but before he could get going, a piano fell from the ceiling and crushed him.
That’s when Anthony Anderson from “Black-ish” took over hosting duties and pretended to peruse around backstage acting as if he was about to get read. Then Bryan Cranston from “Breaking Bad” hit the stage and discussed the history of television – it was the Emmy’s 50th anniversary.
This is how it continued throughout the night with television’s biggest names taking the stage.
But they did do one unique thing, which was to have Thomas Lennon, best known for “Reno 911,” sit at a desk and provide commentary over the ceremony during the lulls like when the gaggle of people who won for a specific category finally made their way to the microphone.
At one point Lennon joked, “I’m your Sherpa through the lulls.” Most of the time, his jokes were duds. To be fair, it’s possible he didn’t create many of the jokes and the producers were telling him what to say.
But one joke that landed well was when Lennon said, “Are the Emmys woke? Or is that just something that was — this is why people don’t do this, because it sucks.”
As the Emmy’s were about to go to commercial break about an hour and a half into the three hour show, Lennon said, “The producers have asked me to give a special shout-out to any of our previous lead actress winners who are watching tonight from prison. Hopefully, those two weeks are gonna right fly by. Keep your chin up.”

It was quite possibly the funniest moment of the night even if her sentence was terribly light.
On September 13 Huffman was sentenced to 14 days in prison, fined $30,000, given 250 hours of community service, and one year of probation.
However, Huffman doesn’t start her sentence for another month on October 25th.
During her sentencing hearing, Huffman said to Judge Talwani who imposed her sentence, “I accept the court’s decision today without reservation. I have always been prepared to accept whatever punishment Judge Talwani imposed. I broke the law. I have admitted that and I pleaded guilty to this crime. There are no excuses or justifications for my actions. Period.”
In the meantime, Lori Loughlin is reportedly jealous of Huffman’s sentence and wishes she had taken the prosecutors’ original plea deal. Now she’s facing 40 years in prison instead of two short weeks.
