Many corporations are making the mistake of getting too political.
Disney decided to push progressive policies and alienate half its audience.
Now Disney’s war against Ron DeSantis backfired in one shocking way.
Democrats lost their collective minds after Florida Governor Ron DeSantis signed the Parental Rights in Education bill into law.
Somehow a bill that simply precludes in-class discussions about sexual orientation and gender identity in grades K-3 became controversial.
The reason is because the GOP is over the target regarding radical gender ideology being taught in schools.
Republicans essentially won the argument on the neo-Marxist doctrine of critical race theory; A majority of Americans now have an unfavorable view of CRT.
But the culture war over queer theory will be even more contentious.
Disney attempted to use its muscle to strongarm DeSantis into abandoning the bill, but the strategy backfired.
Now Florida Republicans are moving forward with a plan to withdraw Disney’s special privileges.
From The Daily Wire:
“Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R) signed into law Friday a bill that strips Walt Disney Co. from being able to govern the land where the Disney World theme park is located and a bill that effectively blocks Critical Race Theory from being pushed in classrooms. In reference to the bill ending Disney’s special tax privileges in the state, DeSantis said, ‘I’m just not comfortable having that type of agenda get special treatment in my state’…The bill eliminates the Reedy Creek Improvement District, which exempts Disney from numerous regulations and taxes and fees and reportedly saves the company tens of millions of dollars per year.”
Disney made the mistake of wading into politics for no practical reason.
New CEO Bob Chapek originally wanted to stay out of the fight over the Florida bill, but he was harried into submission by “woke” employees within the company.
An intransigent minority within a company can do sizable damage if there isn’t strong leadership in place.
DeSantis elaborated, “What I would say as a matter of first principle is I don’t support special privileges in law just because a company is powerful and they’ve been able to wield a lot of power…I think what has happened is there’s a lot of these special privileges that are not justifiable, but because Disney had held so much sway, they were able to sustain a lot of special treatment over the years.”
Republicans are finally fighting fire with fire in the culture war.
Maybe businesses will stop getting involved in politics and focus on serving their customers.
Meanwhile, Democrats had a conniption over DeSantis and other Republicans taking measures to protect kids.
The White House Press Secretary literally broke into tears.
Jen Psaki literally breaks down in tears over state laws that ban children from undergoing sex changes.

It’s absurd that Democrats are so determined to teach young kids about sexual orientation and gender identity instead of reading, writing, and arithmetic.
Unfortunately for the left, even Democrat voters are turned off by what public schools are doing.
