The entertainment industry is openly hostile toward voices that counter the left.
The echo chamber has only gotten worse over the last few decades.
And a conservative actor called out the horrible thing Hollywood is doing.
Hollywood’s commitment to leftist politics only deepened after Donald Trump won in 2016.
Filmmakers believed it was their duty to “speak truth to power,” even though it’s the left that controls all the major institutions in the country.
There are conservatives in the industry, but most of them keep their views to themselves.
And open conservative Kevin Sorbo is tired of the double standard.
He’s calling on my conservatives to speak up.
From Just the News:
“Kevin Sorbo won worldwide fame as a young actor playing Hercules, but today as one of Hollywood’s few openly conservative actors he laments the industry’s cancel culture and its embrace of dark, radical and negative movies…As Hollywood has drifted further left and away from many mainstream families, Sorbo has created his own studio committed to positive, family-friendly movies. He said the industry is missing a huge market of 80 million fans by refusing to make more upbeat content.”
Sorbo’s strong Christian values make him an outlier in the film industry that views religious people with skepticism.
Christian actor Chris Pratt has experienced a lot of blowback because of his religious views.
Sorbo explained, “It’s unfortunate…They’re afraid — ‘Oh my gosh, we’ll get a backlash from within the Hollywood elites if we do a movie that’s got a positive message’…It’s so strange to me…I wish they could answer that question: Why? What are you afraid of those 80 million homes out there that want that. You can poke fun and laugh at all the stupid Christians for wanting movies with a good message in there. It’s so weird. But this is a battle that we have going on right now.”
Hollywood is so left-wing, some film productions have to be done in secret for fear of retribution.
For example, the documentary America’s Forgotten, which is critical of the Democrats’ open borders policies, did not put any credits on the film other the director’s name because she did not want her crew to get blacklisted.
The pro-life film Unplanned couldn’t find a lead actress until days before the start date because young actresses were warned by their managers and agents that they would struggle to get work in the future if they accepted the role.
Sorbo added, “We do need more. I have actors come up to me on the set over the last five, six years saying, ‘Hey, thank you for being a voice for us’…And I said, ‘Well, why don’t you be a voice for yourself?’ But they’re all afraid to come out of that conservative closet because we’re the ones getting bashed and attacked…I still have a career…Am I doing big budget TV shows or movies anymore? Nope. But that’s fine. I’m doing the movies that I want to do.”
Conservatives are slowly getting into the cultural fight, but there’s still a long road ahead.
