College football is a hair away from getting canceled.
One of the most popular sports in the country is less than a month away from kicking off, and strong forces are trying to put a stop to it.
And college football is on the brink for one infuriating political reason.
The Democrats and their media allies are holding the country hostage.
They’re so deranged over Donald Trump’s defeat of Hillary Clinton, they’ve spent every waking moment trying to undo the results of the 2016 election.
Since that failed, the left’s latest tactic is to prolong the misery of the Wuhan virus for as long as possible in order to hurt Trump’s re-election chances in November.
The Democrats are desperate to make sure the country doesn’t regain any sense of normalcy because once the panic subsides, the Democrats lose their edge.
Sports are a welcomed distraction from the virus and the subsequent economic collapse, but the left doesn’t want that to happen.
University presidents and administrators have been teaming up with “woke” sports journalists to sell doom and gloom to the public.
Story after story from left-wing sports journalists citing high-level “sources” have cropped up with reports of the season not happening at all.
And this a short while after the major conferences already announced their schedules for the season.
The listed concern for the supposed cancellation is safety concerns over the coronavirus, but that’s nonsensical.
College athletes are the least at-risk people for having serious symptoms from COVID-19.
Also, colleges have top-notch medical facilities, rigorous testing procedures, and safety protocols to keep players properly distanced.
Bottom line: the coronavirus narrative is bunk.
The more likely scenario is left-wing university presidents are running scared from the left-wing media mob that will come after them for allowing the season to take place.
Meanwhile, college students will soon be returning to campuses.
So regular students are allowed to return, but college football isn’t.
Something smells fishy.
It’s beginning to look more and more like a political hit job to exacerbate the impact of the lockdown.
When the prospects for having a season looked grim, something unlikely happened.
Everyone began speaking out against the cancel culture mob.
Players led by Heisman hopefuls Clemson quarterback Trevor Lawrence and Ohio State quarterback Justin Fields began speaking out.
The statement #WeWantToPlay began trending on Twitter.
College coaches, fans, big-money boosters, and even high school players chimed in to support the players.
Finally, Donald Trump weighed in:
The student-athletes have been working too hard for their season to be cancelled. #WeWantToPlay https://t.co/lI3CCKZ4ID

College football is far less “woke” than the various professional sports leagues.
The last three national championship winners graciously visited the White House to celebrate their victories.
Leftists on the West Coast tried to puppeteer a PAC-12 player boycott in order to get revenue sharing from Universities, which is a complete non-starter for multiple legal reasons.
But even those PAC-12 players joined forces with the #WeWantToPlay movement that picked up unbelievable steam.
If the college football season goes off without a hitch, the Democrats are going to have a much more difficult time defeating Trump in November.
