Colin Kaepernick has portrayed himself as a human rights activist.
He started the anti-American anthem protests in the NFL when he kneeled during “The Star-Spangled Banner.”
But Kaepernick is silent on the horrible thing one company is doing.
Colin Kaepernick’s NFL career was on the skids when he kneeled for the national anthem.
He’d previously been benched, and he reclaimed the starting job in 2016 only to finish the season 1-10 as a starter and lead the San Francisco 49ers to a 2-14 record.
Nevertheless, the left-wing media have painted Kaepernick as a saint and a martyr for his “sacrifice” to a radical cause.
But Kaepernick has been graced with humanitarian awards and unending praise from the left.
He’s also signed deals with Penguin Random House, Disney, Netflix, and Nike, the biggest corporations in their respective sector.
And while Kaepernick found time to advocate for the release of a cop killer, he was utterly silent on Nike trying to weaken a congressional bill against slave labor in China.
In response to horrifying photos of Uyghur Muslims being marched onto trains to labor camps, the House passed the Uyghur Forced Labor Prevention Act 406-3.
According to The New York Times:
“In the first three quarters of 2020, Nike spent $920,000 on in-house lobbying of Congress and other federal agencies. Disclosures do not break down expenditures by topic, but show Nike lobbied on matters including physical education grants, taxes and climate change, as well as the Uyghur Forced Labor Prevention Act.
Nike also paid outside firms like Cornerstone Government Affairs, Ogilvy, Capitol Counsel, GrayRobinson, American Continental Group, DiNino Associates and Empire Consulting Group more than $400,000 this year to lobby on issues including the act.”
Nike denies that they lobbied to weaken the bill, but almost 200 human rights organizations called out Nike and other apparel companies for benefiting from slave labor in China.
Kaepernick, of course, has nothing to say on the matter.
Nike is beholden to the Chinese market, but Kaepernick isn’t going to bite the hand that feeds him.
That would cost him something.
It’s much easier to rip on America while appearing in Nike ads.
Kaepernick was also silent on mainland China cracking down on freedom in Hong Kong.
Leftists in America have not only turned a blind eye to China’s human rights abuses, but they’ve actively participated in their propaganda war.
Kaepernick has been indoctrinated to the far left, so he’s not going to bad-mouth his comrade cousins in Beijing.
Some principled people on the left have acknowledged what China is doing, but not enough.
Kaepernick will continue to collect checks from Nike while fulminating about the evils of America.
Like so many spoiled leftists, he has no gratitude and no understanding of American freedom.
Dissidents in America get shoe contracts while dissidents in China get spirited away.
Kaepernick and NBA stars like LeBron James are happily doing the bidding of the Chinese Communist Party.
