“The Boss” is taking aim at Donald Trump.
Bruce Springsteen is not unique among celebrities who spew rage against the president with ever-increasing regularity.
But Springsteen went off the reservation with his latest comments about Trump.
Celebrities wield a lot of influence.
Though they may not sway singular elections — as evidenced by the failed endorsement campaign of Taylor Swift in Tennessee — they play a part in shaping the cultural narrative.
Celebrities — at least the most vocal ones — almost entirely lean to the left, and in some cases, far left.
Their megaphone helps Democrats rewrite history, forever casting them as the “good guys” against the dastardly Republicans.
The current saga at the southern border is a perfect illustration.
The left is shamelessly invoking Holocaust rhetoric to describe border patrol agents’ use of tear gas on a horde migrants throwing rocks and rushing the border.
Yet these same leftists remained silent when the same thing happened on Barack Obama’s watch.
The mainstream media are complicit in the rampant hypocrisy.
Stories like these proliferate, and history eventually gets massaged.
One of the most notable celebrity influencers is Bruce Springsteen.
“The Boss” came from humble beginnings and developed a reputation as the blue-collar rock star.
Springsteen, who’s now worth half a billion dollars, recently confessed his past aversion to taxes in a free-wheeling interview with superstar actor Tom Hanks.
Springsteen is currently more aligned with multi-millionaire corporate Democrats — like Hillary Clinton, for whom he campaigned, and Nancy Pelosi, a close friend — than the working man.
Now Springsteen, like his entire celebrity cohort, is taking shots at Donald Trump from his elitist perch.
Springsteen told Esquire that Trump “has no interest in uniting the country…and actually has an interest in doing the opposite and dividing us, which he does on an almost daily basis.”
Only someone entrenched in the left’s echo chamber could make such a tone-deaf statement.
The mainstream media sow seeds of division every minute of every day.
Trump won the election, but 92% of the news coverage is negative.
And virtually every single media correction cuts in Trump’s favor.
That’s a clear sign of an adversarial press thirsty to run with an anti-Trump story, even if it’s wrong.
“So that’s simply a crime against humanity, as far as I’m concerned,” Springsteen continued.
One wonders if Springsteen had the same problem with Barack Obama dividing the country.
Obama, particularly during the 2012 campaign, stoked racial animus to win reelection.
Perhaps the worst moment came when Joe Biden told a crowd of black constituents that “Republicans wanna put y’all back in chains.”
Not only were Biden’s comments divisive, they were an exemplar of how the left rewrites history.
The Democrats were the party of slavery and Jim Crow.
They were the ones who exalted former KKK recruiter Robert Byrd.
Obama’s rhetoric set race relations back to the 1960s, which the left views as the golden age.
Springsteen continued, “It’s an awful, awful message to send out into the world if you’re in that job and in that position. You are intentionally trying to disenfranchise a large portion of Americans. I mean, you are simply . . . that’s unforgivable.”
Whom Trump is trying to disenfranchise is anyone’s guess.
Trump isn’t the one calling half the country “bitter clingers” and “deplorables.”
He isn’t the one encouraging people to harass the opposition in the streets like Maxine Waters.
Trump isn’t the one saying, “When they go lock, kick ‘em” like Eric Holder.
Springsteen concluded, “The founding fathers were pretty good at confronting their fears and the fears of the country. And it’s the old cliché where geniuses built the system so an idiot could run it. We are completely testing that theory at this very moment. I do believe we’ll survive Trump. But I don’t know if I see a unifying figure on the horizon.”
Springsteen’s comment on the founding fathers is dripping with irony, because it’s the left who condemns them as old, white, slave-owning, colonizers.
It’s the left that constantly looks to undermine the Constitution at every term.
The left appoints activist judges who interpret the Constitution as a “living document,” meaning they can twist it to mean whatever they want.
Springsteen and other leftists believe Trump is attacking America even though he’s trying to preserve it.
Leftists are the ones who want to abolish borders, profit, property rights, and everything else that makes America exceptional.
