Comedian and late-night host Bill Maher is coming apart at the seams.
Even for a rabid leftist, Maher’s takes are becoming increasingly ridiculous.
But he recently agreed with Ann Coulter about something that took people by surprise.
Bill Maher has always been a smug leftist who’s at least principled on free speech, but he’s now contracted a case of Trump Derangement Syndrome.
Maher has made outrageous statements, including hoping for a recession to get rid of Donald Trump.
When he was called out for the elitist statement, he doubled down.
Maher believes Trump won’t leave office after his term expires; he literally thinks Trump is going to declare himself President for life.
That’s an absurd take even for an absurd leftist.
Maher also lashed out at the Covington High School kids who were harassed at the March For Life in Washington, D.C.
Maher, a militant atheist, also took the opportunity to rag on Christianity, which is becoming more and more mainstream on the left.
A New York Times reporter recently trawled for stories about people who had bad experiences at Christian schools in order to feed the narrative that religious people are malevolent.
With all that said, Maher actually did something surprising on a recent episode of his HBO show.
Maher had on “frenemy” Ann Coulter to talk about politics.
Coulter pushed Trump to build the wall, but she also ripped the FBI for its raid on Trump supporter and political strategist Roger Stone.
Stone was charged with a handful of non-violent process crimes and has no criminal record, but the FBI descended on him with a 29-man strike team with assault rifles, helicopters, and a marine unit guarding the canal behind his home.
Stone pointed out that was twice the manpower used in the raid to kill Osama Bin Laden.
CNN reporters were even at the scene live despite the raid happening in the dead of night, leading many to believe the FBI tipped off the news organization in order to make a splashy arrest.
The left, which claims to loathe fascistic tactics and militarized law enforcement, cheered Stone’s arrest, and shrugged at the excessive show of force.
However, Coulter got Maher to admit that it was “an over-the-top arrest,” which is shocking considering his unbridled hatred for Trump.
Even Maher couldn’t justify the ridiculous treatment of Stone.
One of the excuses used by the left was that the 29-man team was standard operating procedure, and they were concerned Stone might destroy evidence.
First, it’s laughable to suggest every suspect charged with non-violent process crimes gets a strike team sent after them.
Second, Stone has been under investigation for two years and has legal representation.
If he had damning evidence, he would’ve destroyed it long ago.
The arrest was just the left’s latest attempt to make Trump and his associates look nefarious.
Robert Mueller and his team have yet to find any underlying crimes in their interminable investigation.
Even Bill Maher was able to see the political stunt for what it was.
