Another Hollywood elitist is taking a political stance and making sure their opinion is known.
Ben Affleck, actor turned director, claimed he probably wouldn’t like a certain group of people if they voted Republican.
While he claimed he was smart enough to avoid the disastrous Hollywood political landscape, even he let it slip that he wouldn’t like those who voted Republican, even if they were his fellow celebrities.
Breitbart News reports:
Ben Affleck is smart enough to know an actor taking up political causes can shatter the illusion movies are meant to conjure.
Yet the Argo director and avowed liberal still sticks his foot in his mouth during a new interview with Playboy Magazine by insulting half of his audience.
Seems he’s not sure he can be friends with anyone who pulls the lever repeatedly for GOP politicians.
“When I watch a guy [on screen] I know is a big Republican, part of me thinks, I probably wouldn’t like this person if I met him, or we would have different opinions. That shit fogs the mind when you should be paying attention and be swept into the illusion.”
Even though Affleck claimed he never wanted to be a part of the political landscape, he’s often vocalized his support for the Democratic Party, and has even cited that he’s sure he’s lost a part of his fan base because of his political beliefs.
The Huffington Post reported:
Ben Affleck has long been a vocal supporter of the Democratic Party, spending his time off-set campaigning for candidates and once even considering his own political career. In an interview, Affleck acknowledged that his outside political interests may affect the way he is seen onscreen.
“People now know me as a Democrat, and that will always be the case to some extent,” Affleck told the publication. “It does [polarize viewers], and you can bifurcate your audience.”
Affleck could also be called a hypocrite.
He considered even a political career for himself at one point.
However, in another interview, he contradicted himself once again and claimed he did not want a part in politics.
The Huffington Post reported:
Despite all that, Affleck himself isn’t interested in a life in politics.
“I don’t want to run for office. And I don’t even like working in partisan politics,” Affleck said to GQ in an interview last year. “People get so wound up and so ugly now. I find that doing things that are independent where you can really actually make a difference, where you can affect policy, you can affect change, means more than doing the partisan political thing.”
