Late night comedy shows have become nothing more than platforms for Democrat talking points.
The left-wing hosts often don’t even attempt to make jokes.
Now one anti-Trump host made a shocking statement about one member of Congress.
Late night “comedian” Seth Meyers has been in a run-and-gun battle with other hosts to see who can be the most “woke.”
At times, Jimmy Kimmel has taken the lead with tear-filled monologues about healthcare, while Stephen Colbert edged in front when he chided his audience for cheering the firing of James Comey; he had to inform them that Comey became a “good” guy when he backstabbed Donald Trump.
Jimmy Fallon took heat for not being anti-Trump enough, and began to become more political on his show.
But Meyers surged into first place in the race for “woke” king of late night when he defended Congresswoman Ilhan Omar while going after freshman Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene.
Recently, Greene was chastised by GOP leadership for several inappropriate comments before she ran for office.
Greene apologized for her social posts, but that didn’t stop Democrats from making the unprecedented move of stripping her from her congressional committee assignments.
Prior to that move, parties policed themselves, but the Democrats are drunk with power now that Joe Biden is in the White House and Kamala Harris represents the tiebreaker in the Senate.
During an unfunny monologue, Meyers said it was “racist” to compare Omar to Greene.
He said:
“Hmm, one wants Medicare for All, and the other thinks Jewish space laser starts wildfires! Seriously, what’s wrong with you? There’s no equivalence and any attempt to create one is disgusting and racist.”
Meyers’s illogical statement exposed the ethos of the left; their misdeeds are justified because they have the “correct” political beliefs.
Omar wasn’t criticized for her position on healthcare; she was rebuked for saying that Jews had “hypnotized” the world and they were “all about the Benjamins” and dismissed the 9/11 attacks as “Some people did something.”
Omar also stirred controversy when she allegedly diverted campaign funds to a consultant with whom she was having an affair.
The two later divorced their spouses and married each other.
In an old interview, Omar nonchalantly drew an equivalence between American soldiers and Al-Qaeda, and lobbied for a leniency for a man in her district who joined ISIS.
Omar is a deeply radical figure, but she gets defended by the left.
She graces the cover of fashion magazines and gets branded the future of the party.
Nobody on the right is amplifying Marjorie Taylor Greene as a thought leader inside the Republican Party.
This isn’t the first time Meyers has run interference for Omar, and it likely won’t be the last.
With Donald Trump no longer available as the Democrats’ archvillain, the corporate press has tried to build up Greene as the replacement target.
Thus far, it isn’t working.
CNN’s ratings have cratered since Joe Biden’s inauguration.
