Hollywood elites are known for their condescending progressive politics.
They’re also known for being ignorant on topics outside their purview and spouting bad opinions nonetheless.
Now one anti-Trump actress infuriated gun owners with one ridiculous statement.
Actress and director Elizabeth Banks is one of the more vocal “woke” Hollywood priestesses.
She routinely opines on political issues despite knowing little about the particular topic.
Banks is particularly clueless when it comes to guns—as are virtually all Hollywood celebrities—and she made that abundantly clear with a ridiculous tweetstorm.
In response to the passage of a “stand your ground” law in Ohio, Banks tweeted:
Stand Your Ground is BS. We used to play hide and seek all over the neighborhood on summer nights. Intent was to play. We were kids but some of my cousins were big guys /1 https://t.co/zD3hOG4Tgt

Apparently, Banks thinks “stand your ground” means gun owners have a license to kill like 007.
“Stand your ground” simply means legal gun owners have the right to use deadly force if force is used against them.
Banks continued with her inane story about wandering into her neighbor’s yard as a child.
Also sometimes our dog got loose. We would go into yards looking for her. All I can think about when people pretend Stand Your Ground is about anything other than permission to kill people are those moments when I myself stepped onto a neighbor’s property /5

Banks is a multimillionaire living in wealthy zip code, so she doesn’t understand what it’s like to live in a high-crime area where self-defense is literally a matter of life and death.
Gun rights advocate John Lott wrote regarding “stand your ground”:
“From 2005 through October 1, 2014, blacks made up 16.7 percent of Florida’s population and 34 percent of the defendants who invoked Stand Your Ground. Black defendants who invoke this statute are actually acquitted four percentage points more frequently that whites who use this very same defense…Blacks living in high-crime urban areas are the most likely victims of violent crime and the most likely beneficiaries of Stand Your Ground laws.”
Banks previously called for a ban on “assault” weapons—which is a meaningless distinction—as well as a ban on silencers.
Again, Banks thinks silencers work like the stealthy make-believe guns in spy thrillers; guns with suppressors are still very loud.
Unfortunately for Banks and other gun control zealots in Hollywood, gun sales were through the roof in 2020.
More and more Americans are exercising their right to bear arms, which is a great development.
