The invasion of “wokeness” into sports has been a disaster.
Many athletes have become tools of the political Left.
And anthem-protesting athletes shockingly turned down one big-money offer.
The anti-American anthem protest ignited by Colin Kaepernick still reverberates in 2021.
The political division has led to the NFL playing the “Star-Spangled Banner” as well as “Lift Every Voice and Sing,” the unofficial black national anthem.
The fraying has also spread to other sports including women’s soccer.
The U.S. Women’s National Team (USWNT) has become a symbol of progressivism, particularly team member Megan Rapinoe, who was the first athlete to kneel in solidarity with Kaepernick.
Rapinoe and other members of USWNT have crowed about pay inequity with the men’s team, but they had the opportunity to sign a similar pay structure to the men.
Now the U.S. Soccer Federation (USSF) is offering USWNT the same deal as the men, and the women balked.
USSF’s PR stunts and bargaining through the media will not bring us any closer to a fair agreement. In contrast, we are committed to bargaining in good faith to achieve equal pay and the safest working conditions possible. The proposal that USSF made recently to us does neither. https://t.co/lzchRa0hea

So USWNT got the deal they wanted, and they’re still not happy.
The Left is never satisfied, and this is further illustration.
The USSF released a statement on the matter:
“U.S. Soccer firmly believes that the best path forward for all involved, and for the future of the sport in the United States, is a single pay structure for both senior national teams…This proposal will ensure that USWNT and USMNT players remain among the highest paid senior national team players in the world, while providing a revenue sharing structure that would allow all parties to begin anew and share collectively in the opportunity that combined investment in the future of the U.S. Soccer will deliver over the course of a new CBA.”
USWNT could be in danger of alienating fans who supported them along the way.
Short version: The bonus structure is a function of Fifa prize money. The men’s WC payout is $400 million and ladies WC payout is $30 million. The WNT wants to be paid like they won the $400 million WC instead of the $30 million WC they won.WNT wants USSF to pay the difference.

Carping over money despite making millions is not exactly endearing.
USWNT should be thankful for what they have because the Women’s World Cup doesn’t generate anywhere near the money the Men’s World Cup does.
That’s a basic function of economics, which is something radical leftists can’t seem to grasp.
