Stand-up comedians are a dime a dozen in Hollywood, always grinding at the clubs hoping some sleazy manager or producer will discover them so they can get that sweet taste of celebrity they all so desperately crave.
Only the few get those coveted multimillion-dollar Netflix deals; that exclusive list includes Dave Chappelle, Jerry Seinfeld, Ricky Gervais and only several others. One of them being comedian Amy Schumer who might be the most undeserving of the undeserved to acquire the life-changing payday.
Amy Schumer’s got a new Netflix special that looks even worse than you thought.
Yawn. Amy Schumer has yet another project coming out soon that will make you perplexed wondering how this unlikable comedian continues to land multimillion-dollar paydays.
Schumer had one hit project almost four years ago, Trainwreck, and yet Hollywood throws money at her like she’s the next Gilda Radner or Madeline Kahn, and even comparing her to either one of these legends should be nausea-inducing.
She hasn’t just done it once either. Schumer reportedly earned $12 million for her 2017 Netflix special called The Leather Special. You were probably one of the millions who were fortunate enough to ignore it altogether; or who knows, maybe you never knew it happened.
Netflix just released a trailer for her new upcoming Growing special and it looks worse than you’d probably ever suspect.
First of all, if you didn’t already suspect, “Growing” is a reference to the fact that she’s pregnant for the special.
Already you know that there are going to be a lot of really bad, really annoying jokes about Schumer whining about the trials and tribulations of being pregnant. Probably placating on the usual clichés about how men don’t know what it’s like. Nothing you haven’t heard before.
Who knows? Maybe she’ll sprinkle in a grotesque dead baby joke, which is not only in her “comedic” wheelhouse to make, but it’s topical considering Democrats are trying to make it legal to kill newborn babies.
The short Netflix trailer runs less than 90 seconds – that’s probably all the streaming giant wants you to see so that you’ll actually watch it, but the jokes are really unfunny.
Schumer notes that she’s pregnant and that she hates other women who become “precious” during the nine-month period. That’s when she says women don’t stop being themselves, “they don’t stop working… or drinking,..” which was met by a room full of laughs.
Apparently, prenatal alcohol exposure leading to Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders is funny?
Then she also claimed “if you’re someone who enjoyed being pregnant then I hope your car flips over.”
There are other mind-numbing jokes about how she got engaged and is now married but why bore you with those.
One Twitter user under her power named Clarance Frank summed it up best when he sarcastically tweeted, “Moving away from the traditional comedy format of telling jokes I see… bold…”
That’s pretty much it in a nutshell.
