Everybody has a right to their viewpoint, but that also doesn’t deem them qualified to participate in the political process. Most of the time it’s either propaganda or misinformation that dictates their political philosophy.
Nowhere is that clearer than in good ole Hollywood, California – where celebrities perpetuate anti-conservative views to the point of demonization of the entire Republican field. In other words, if you vote for President Trump then you’re the devil.
And now America’s biggest pop star – maybe in the whole world – is now “obsessed” with politics and her new album will reflect her liberal views.
Taylor Swift has won enough awards in her short career she could literally fill a whole house with them. That’s not a joke.
She’s a ten-time Grammy Award winner since 2010 and has hundreds of others including the Country Music Television Awards, BMI Pop Awards, BMI London Awards, iHeartRadio Music Awards, etc. The list is nearly endless.
One of the things people adored about Swift before a couple of years ago was how she stayed completely out of politics. She actively avoided any question that would expose her political affiliation and rightly so. Why would you alienate a good amount of your fan base, especially since she’s more of a country music star than anything else?
In 2018, just before the November Congressional General Election, Swift decided to come out as a Democrat, endorsing Democrat Phil Bredesen over incumbent Sen. Marsha Blackburn in her home state of Tennessee.
However, Sen. Blackburn won that election. Clearly Swift’s star power wasn’t enough.
Recently at the MTV Music Awards early this month, Swift urged people to sign her “Equality Act” that would prevent discrimination based on either sexual orientation or gender identity.
The White House responded with a statement that read, “The Trump Administration absolutely opposes discrimination of any kind and supports the equal treatment of all; however, the House-passed bill in its current form is filled with poison pills that threaten to undermine parental and conscience rights.”
And now, in a tell-all interview with Rolling Stone magazine, Swift touched on lyrics in her new song “Miss Americana & the Heartbreak Prince” – the title is obvious in its liberal bias metaphors.
She said, “There are so many influences that go into that particular song. I wrote it a couple of months after midterm elections, and I wanted to take the idea of politics and pick a metaphorical place for that to exist. And so I was thinking about a traditional American high school, where there’s all these kinds of social events that could make someone feel completely alienated. And I think a lot of people in our political landscape are just feeling like we need to huddle up under the bleachers and figure out a plan to make things better.”
Well, look on the bright side, at least she’s not complaining about how hurt she was by all of her ex-boyfriends anymore. Swift always played the victim card and then would write a song about how awful they were to her. Obviously that one-way-street does happen in relationships frequently but it was after every single one of her breakups.
Now she’s taking that aggression out on conservatism.
Swift really loved former President Obama too. In the same interview she said, “We were so excited to have this dignified person in the White House. My first election was voting for him when he made it into office, and then voting to reelect him. I think a lot of people are like me, where they just didn’t really know that this could happen. But I’m just focused on the 2020 election. I’m really focused on it. I’m really focused on how I can help and not hinder. Because I also don’t want it to backfire again, because I do feel that the celebrity involvement with Hillary’s campaign was used against her in a lot of ways.”
But will her endorsement even matter? Will her millions of fans bite the poisonous apple or will they turn a blind eye?
