Not every athlete is a card carrying member of the anti-American national anthem protests movement.
That’s bad news for Democrats.
Now a pro-Trump football Hall of Famer just dropped this hint about running for Senate.
Donald Trump recently endorsed the idea of former Georgia Bulldog legend, NFL pro bowlers, and College Football Hall of Fame member Herschel Walker to challenge Georgia Democrat Senator Raphael Warnock next year.
In an interview on Fox News host Maria Bartiromo asked Walker about Trump urging him to run for Senate, and if Walker was close to making a decision.
Walker responded:
“And my family, we’re still going through this process of praying and really considering it. And, at the same time, I take it very serious. And people want me to decide like right now. And I said, guys, I’m going to take my time, because this is a very serious, serious thing.
But I will tell you this. Herschel Walker believe in God. I believe in this country, I believe in the people. And I’m going to fight for the people of Georgia if I run.
So, yes, just stay tuned, and I tell you what. It’s going to be exciting.”
Bartiromo asked Walker what his platform would be if he ran for office, and Walker responded that he would work to bring the people together to solve problems.
Walker stated:
“Well, my priority, most of all, would be America, getting people to be — getting people to be — to find out the truth, so they can be educated, and they would quit this all dividing.
I want to bring people back together. There’s no doubt some people hear the things I say, and they say, Herschel, did you really mean that?
I say, guys. I believe in — I believe in togetherness. I believe in America.”
Herschel Walker and Donald Trump have been friends for decades.
When Trump owned the New Jersey Generals of the United States Football league in the mid 80s Trump signed Walker to contract that lured Walker away from the NFL.
Walker signed with the Generals following a college career at Georgia where Walker scored 49 touchdowns in three seasons, won the 1982 Heisman Trophy and carried Georgia to its only national championship as a freshman in 1980.
One ranking of the greatest college football players ever listed Walker at number two.
Walker is an icon in Georgia due to his exploits “Between the Hedges” at the University of Georgia.
This past summer Walker made a political splash by delivering a well received speech in support of Donald Trump at the Republican National Convention.
Walker’s legendary status in Georgia gives him name recognition to draw broad support across the state and Walker’s support from Donald Trump will allow him to raise money and rally the GOP grassroots.
Warnock is a formidable candidate as he will win huge margins in the growing Atlanta metro suburbs, and he raked in a massive 5.7 million dollar fundraising haul in the first quarter of 2021.
But Walker may give the Republicans their best chance to flip Warnock’s seat.
