The national anthem and political protests are almost inseparable these days.
But no one saw this coming.
And a national anthem singer was shockingly fired for this protest.
COVID-19 protocols have decimated so many lives around the world.
The draconian lockdowns in the United States and much of Europe are well documented, but Canada is also dealing with COVID restrictions.
Famed “O Canada” singer Mark Donnelly found that out the hard way when he performed at the Christmas Freedom Rally in Vancouver.
Donnelly had sung the Canadian national anthem for the Vancouver Canucks hockey team since 2001, but was summarily fired for appearing at an anti-lockdown event.
Donnelly was terminated via Twitter by Francesco Aquilini, a businessman who has a stake in the ownership group that owns the Canucks.
Hey @VancouverSun change the headline to “Former Canucks anthem singer.” #wearamask https://t.co/UZX5agK4pl

Donnelly said at the event:
“What was originally sold as 15-day hunkering down sprint for the common good has turned into a 10-month marathon from hell, where the finish line is constantly being moved further into the distance…As someone known for singing our great national anthem, I’m standing up against what I feel is tyranny, plain and simple.”
Donnelly certainly isn’t the only person in Canada who feels that way.
Dr. Roger Hodkinson, who received his medical training at Cambridge, addressed a panel of Canadian officials on the absurdity of the COVID protocols that have been implemented.
The lockdowns have not only been economically devastating, but they’ve crushed people’s spirits.
A 90-year-old Canadian woman named Nancy Russell chose to be euthanized instead of enduring another round of harsh COVID lockdowns.
Rock legends Van Morrison and Eric Clapton have joined forces to provide some relief for people in the arts community who have been destroyed by the interminable lockdown edicts.
And while pro-lockdown politicians decimate people’s lives, many of them have been caught red-handed breaking their own procedures.
For example, California governor Gavin Newsom was caught twice hosting extravagant indoor dinner parties while his constituents were going out of business and committing suicide.
People have had enough of the lockdowns, and Donnelly showed that by attending the rally.
More people need to stand up to the “tyranny” described by Donnelly.
That’s the only way the COVID nightmare will end.
The vaccine was supposed to be the silver bullet to end the madness, but now health officials and politicians are saying life will never return to normal.
The world cannot and will not go on like this.
