Christianity is under attack.
Christians found themselves condemned for sending “thoughts and prayers” to the victims and families of the recent mass shooting in Florida.
And one of the most bankable movie stars in the world just received backlash after sending his thoughts and prayers to one iconic filmmaker.
Filmmaker Kevin Smith, best known for his cult classics Clerks, Jersey Girl and Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back, just had a brush with death.
He was scheduled for back-to-back performances in Hollywood, but missed the second one after suffering a massive heart attack.
Smith took a selfie and tweeted it from his hospital bed explaining what happened and how he could’ve died, but that he was still living “above ground for now.”
One of the biggest movie stars in the world, Chris Pratt, known for Jurassic World and Guardians of the Galaxy Volume I & II, tweeted back at him.
Pratt said he was a huge fan, and talked about how Clerks means so much to him.
He then said he would pray for him, and asked others to join him.
It wasn’t much later that Pratt was attacked by others on Twitter in a disgustingly callous way.
Breitbart reports:
Chris Pratt took to social media Monday to urge his followers to pray for Kevin Smith after the filmmaker suffered a serious heart attack Sunday night — only to be attacked by commenters who mocked the actor and questioned whether prayer was an effective way to respond to the health scare.
The 38-year-old Guardians of the Galaxy star and openly religious Christian wrote Monday on Twitter that though he hardly knew Smith, he is a fan of his work and was praying for him to make a full recovery.
Smith tweeted from a hospital bed early Monday morning that he had suffered a “massive” heart attack and had nearly died following a performance at a comedy show Sunday night.
Kevin we don’t know each other too good but I have loved you since Clerks and I’m praying my ass off for you cause I believe in the healing power of prayer. Can you please pray with me people!? 🙏♥ https://t.co/syB7BiQaoY

Praying for you. I will continue to. You inspired me with Clerks when I was a senior HS. I’m tagging my Lb/rb football coach who showed me the movie cause he believed in me and knew I’d be inspired. @hodge1916🙏♥🙏https://t.co/syB7BiQaoY

But several of Pratt’s followers quickly blasted the star, comparing his call for prayer to politicians who have sent “thoughts and prayers” to the victims of recent school shootings.
“WTF is praying going to do?” wrote one commenter. “Wise up! He’s in hospital, science is the best place for him, diet change and exercise. Not random thoughts by you or anyone else.”
“Healing power of prayer? This is a parody right?” wrote another.
That’s cool and everything but Doctors and nurses save lives not prayer.

If you wanna help, actually help. Praying is just a way to feign helping so you don’t have to go out of your way

Great now I won’t enjoy your films as much knowing you’re a Jesus nut

Perhaps Chris Pratt should offer his prayers for a lifetime of illness and heartache from now on.
