Obama’s presidency was utterly disastrous.
The former president’s “legacy” is being dismantled before Americans’ eyes by the Trump administration.
And President Trump just dropped a bombshell about the former president’s most prized legacy.
The insurance industry is falling apart because of Obamacare, and yet Democrats and liberals everywhere defend it.
Obamacare put a stranglehold on businesses and blue-collar Americans, expecting them to make up the difference for lazy leeches.
That’s not fair — and yet the liberal media swing is as if actual hardworking Americans are the ones who lack empathy for the sick and poor.
No, the problem is that it shouldn’t be the federal government who plays a role in whether a person should be provided healthcare.
Obamacare is filled with broken promises, and with the Republicans dominating the last general election in November, it’s clear that Americans feel the same way.
And President Trump certainly brought that issue to light in recent comments.
Breitbart reports:
President Donald Trump thundered against Obamacare in Ohio on Wednesday, calling it “one of the biggest broken promises in the history of politics.”
The president met with families who had their lives upended by Obamacare, addressing reporters at the Ohio airport before his infrastructure speech.
“Obamacare is dead, I’ve been saying it for a long time, everybody knows it, everybody that wants to report fairly about it does,” Trump said.
He delivered a speech after Anthem announced that they were pulling out of the healthcare exchanges in Ohio, due to prohibitive costs to the company.
“That’s it, bye-bye. Wave good-bye,” Trump said. “What a mess.”
Trump commented during his speech that Democrats suffered immensely politically for their actions, as they were voted out of office.
“That’s why they lost the House. They lost the Senate. They lost the White House,” he said.
Trump warned both parties in Congress to pass an Obamacare replacement quickly, and commented that Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell was working to get a proposal finished as soon as possible.
He specifically called out Democrats for trying to stop Republican efforts to fix the problem.
“We’re having no help, it’s only obstruction from the Democrats,” Trump said.
“The Democrats are destroying healthcare in this country.”
He added that the eventual bill would be a strictly Republican effort.
“Republicans or bust,” he said.
And it’s getting worse all across the country because new information showed that New Yorkers who purchased health insurance through the state’s Obamacare plans are about to get a significant boost in their rates.
The New York Daily News reports:
Insurers who offer plans on the exchange have submitted requests to state regulators that would boost rates by an average of more than 16% in 2018 for individual plans.
The increases range from 47% for the Buffalo-based HealthNow New York to 4.4% for the Rochester-based Excellus, according to a spreadsheet made public by the state’s Department of Financial Services.
“The rate requests reflect that plans continue to contend with ongoing costs of health care that keep going up unchecked — drug costs, provider consolidations, mandates, health care taxes,” said Leslie Moran of the New York Health Plan Association, which represents insurers.
Luckily, our country has a leader who had the foresight to see just how disastrous Obamacare is about to be for the economy, otherwise we’d be on the brink of a nationwide healthcare crisis.
