Kim Jong-Un is a nuisance.
Despite China’s efforts to prevent the Supreme Leader from testing out his arsenal, North Korea continues to ignore them and tensions are on the rise.
But now an unlikely all-time NBA player might have the power to diffuse tensions between the U.S. and North Korea, particularly.
Retired Chicago Bull, Dennis Rodman, has a reportedly great relationship with Kim Jong-Un.
Rodman has assisted the United States before when he traveled to North Korea, and it’s clear Jong-Un holds a major affection towards the former NBA “Bad Boy”.
So as tensions are on the rise between the U.S. and North Korea, Rodman might actually help in calming Jong-Un down from doing anything stupid.
The New York Post reports:
“The flamboyant ex-Chicago Bulls power forward was eager to give President Trump an assist in Pyongyang, where he has previously met despot and BFF Kim Jong Un.
‘I’m just trying to open the door,’ said Rodman, 56, who was sporting multiple facial piercings and clad in a black T-shirt bearing the logo of sponsor PotCoin — a cybercurrency for the marijuana industry.
Before boarding his Beijing-to-Pyongyang flight, Rodman was asked whether he had spoken with Trump about his trip, at least his fifth to the rogue nation.
‘I’m pretty sure he’s pretty much happy with the fact that I’m over here trying to accomplish something that we both need,’ he said amid criticisms for visiting as tensions flare between the US and North Korea over its nuclear weapons.
Tensions have escalated on the Korean peninsula over North Korea’s nuclear and missile tests and its vow to develop a nuclear-tipped missile capable of hitting the US mainland.
‘My purpose is to actually to see if I can keep bringing sports to North Korea, so that’s the main thing,’ said Rodman, who was sporting his familiar facial piercings.
Before Trump became president, Rodman appeared twice on his ‘Celebrity Apprentice’ show and praised him on Twitter during last year’s election campaign.
His latest visit comes amid heightened tensions between Washington and Pyongyang — which is holding four Americans — after a series of missile tests by the North, which have triggered tightened UN sanctions.
The NBA Hall of Famer — who was heavily criticized for failing to raise the plight of a jailed US missionary on a previous trip — said the issue the US detainees is “not my purpose right now,” Agence France-Presse reported.”
But the timing of this trip is incredibly suspicious.
Because tensions are at an all-time high, could the White House have secretly asked Rodman to visit the embattled nation and mollify Kim Jong-Un?
After all, Trump has praised Rodman’s intellect in the past.
The New York Post concluded:
“Rodman is one of the few Westerners to have met Kim, who took over after the death of his father Kim Jong-Il in 2011.
He has described his visits — including one in 2013 with the Harlem Globetrotters — as ‘basketball diplomacy’ but has been assailed for failing to raise human rights issues.
US Undersecretary of State Thomas Shannon, speaking with reporters in Tokyo after meeting with Prime Minister Shinzo Abe’s top national security adviser, said Rodman was traveling as a private citizen.
‘We are aware of his visit. We wish him well. But we have issued travel warnings to Americans and suggested they not travel to North Korea for their own safety,’ he said, Reuters reported.
Trump has offered mixed messages to Kim, saying he would be ‘honored’ to meet him under the right conditions and once describing the kooky leader as “a pretty smart cookie.’
The bombastic Rodman — who once wore a wedding dress to promote one of his books – has appeared as a contestant on Trump’s reality television show ‘Celebrity Apprentice.’
‘The world is blowing up around us. Maybe Dennis is a lot better than what we have,’ Trump said about Rodman’s 2013 trip to North Korea. ‘Dennis is not a stupid guy. He’s smart in many ways; he’s very street-wise.’”
It’s amazing to think that Dennis Rodman might be the key to stabilizing tensions with North Korea.
Look how close Rodman is to Un. Ain’t no telling what Un is going to catch! And he’s going to blame the U.S.
