Some analysts are calling this season the year of backup quarterbacks.
Deshaun Watson, Carson Palmer, Aaron Rodgers, Ryan Tannehill, Sam Bradford and now Carson Wentz have all been injured this year.
But now one team is hot after anti-American quarterback Colin Kaepernick.
There has been some bad quarterback plays in the NFL this year.
But that didn’t lead to anyone calling Kaepernick and it’s understandable because he would be a massive distraction.
You could also argue that he was an average quarterback or that reports indicated Kaepernick wanted more money than teams are willing to spend.
But one thing is for sure, he shot himself in the foot when he decided to betray America by starting the anthem protests.
But there are other professional football leagues.
And Richmond Roughriders owner and rapper Jim Jones really wants Kaepernick to come quarterback on his team.
New York Post reported:
“Colin Kaepernick could get another shot to play professional football after all.
Rapper Jim Jones is recruiting free-agent quarterback Colin Kaepernick to join his team in the American Arena League, according to TMZ Sports.
He also made a pitch to another controversial former quarterback, Johnny Manziel.
Jones — a co-owner of the defending Arena Pro Football champion Richmond Roughriders — said he would be willing to sign the former 49ers quarterback if he was interested, the website reported.
“Kaep’, listen man. If you want to keep your skills up to par, man, come on down to the Roughriders,” Jones said.
The rapper, based out of Harlem, said he would be willing to give the 30-year-old Kaepernick a good contract.
“We’ve got a couple dollars too, we can talk about business,” Jones said. “I think the world would pay to watch you play in any form of football, so I’ve got a platform for you. Come talk to me.”
Jones’ pitch for Kaepernick didn’t stop him from recruiting Manziel, the former controversial Browns quarterback who has had his share of off-the-field issues. In fact, Jones even said he would allow Manziel to drink before games.
“We’ve got a bar in our arena, you dig? You get a couple drinks and get on the field and get busy, Manziel,” Jones said.
Jones also told TMZ he encourages kneeling during the national anthem as a way of protesting racial inequality and police brutality in the United States which Kaepernick did while with the 49ers. And he went even a step further.
“We bringing out beach chairs,” Jones said. “We ain’t just kneeling, bro. We bringing out beach chairs and piña coladas.”
Kaepernick, who threw 16 touchdowns and just four interceptions in 12 games last season for the 49ers, hasn’t found a job in the NFL this year. In October, he filed a a grievance against the NFL owners for collusion.
Jones’ offer comes a day after Kaepernick was honored by Sports Illustrated with the Muhammad Ali Legacy Award, which Beyonce presented to him. Kaepernick’s was recognized because of the charity work and activism he performed, including holding a “Know Your Rights” camp for underprivileged children. He also pledged to donate $1 million to charity last year.”
It’s more likely that Kaepernick is going to ride out his notorious civil rights status instead of playing football.
