    Grow up. She has a right to her opinion. She is a Christian pastor and is following her beliefs. The Bible which really is God’s word says homosexuality is sin. You want to live that way that is your choice just like it is her choice (and mine) to tell it will send you straight to hell.

        I suggest you read the Bible more thoroughly. I’ve read it cover to cover twice. There are a lot of sins, none cherry picked, all are still taught and followed to this day. They’re called the Ten Commandments. The Christian tenants guide many people and people should be grateful for them rather than denounce them. Christ stated that we were to “Love one another as they do themselves”. That doesn’t mean not to point out deficiencies we see in ourselves and each other. We are to strive to be the best person we can be and to love unconditionally. Ever know a parent that never chastised their child because they didn’t want their kid to think they weren’t loved? Seriously. Love can easily be displayed in correction. Correction isn’t hate.

        You’re wrong! Most of the things that outsiders call sin, are actually customs given by God to the early Hebrew tribe, that later became Israel. If you want a list of sins that ALL Christians should consider sin, I suggest you get a list of the 10 Commandments. As long as we follow those, & follow Christ, we’re safe. However, God explicitly forbade homosexual behavior for them. Then in the NEW Testament, Paul gives an even broader list of sins that will send you to hell. Homosexuality is included in that list. IF you become a Christian, then you’ll understand better. But, unless God opens your eyes to what is in the Holy Bible, you won’t understand 1/3 of what you read.

          For an action you take to be “sinful,” you must be able to understand that your action was wrong. If you’re mentally unable to understand the difference between right and wrong for whatever reason (mentally retarded, unaware that an action is wrong (eg: a headhunter who has grown up believing that eating another person was actually doing their spirit a favor), sleepwalking at the time), you cannot be held accountable for those actions. It would not be just, and God is nothing if not just.

          But once one is enlightened about a sin and why it is wrong, you are now aware. You are no longer ignorant of God’s will (as defined by His own Word in the Bible). His will for us is found in the New Testament, but much enlightenment in His ways and intentions, and a historical perspective (which helps to interpret the New Testament) can also be found in the Old Testament.

          It is like a little kid being taught right from wrong. God will not punish someone who is still figuratively a little kid. But once you know, you have no excuse any longer.

          Not true. “Condemns” is present tense, and the Catholic Church does not “condemn” those who have no control over their actions for ANY otherwise-sinful act. Also, the Church may “condemn” sins (for example, suicide of a mentally clear person), but that only means it is warning the sinner that they are in danger of loss of eternal life by their actions, and the Church believes this is God’s own teaching. The Church does not feign to believe that it can designate ANYONE will definitively lose their eternal soul in NY situation, as no one but God knows what is taking place within a person when he or she performs an action. There isn’t a legitimate Pope in history (in my knowledge) that has ever stated that he could over-rule God’s judgement of someone’s eternal disposition. That’s bogus.

      I agree, Rose, except for one very important thing. The only sin that will send a person to hell is rejecting the Savior, Jesus Christ. All other sins are forgivable if repented. But to die without a genuine faith in Christ is to enter eternity without Him. Believers are not perfect, but forgiven, and the evidence of their faith is that they sincerely attempt to live by the teachings of Christ. Some homosexuals are believers, but choose to rationalize their sin because it is such a difficult drive to deny, like a fat person who continues to fail at losing weight. Others turn totally against Christ, choosing homosexuality over Christ. There are consequences for being a rebellious child of God, and some sins carry more risk than others, but losing one’s salvation is not one of them. I find it disturbing that radical homosexuals have the power to punish Christians for expressing belief in biblical/traditional marriage. If homosexuals choose to live together, that’s their business, but that arrangement does not meet the definition of marriage.

    Being gay doesnt give one special rights and privileges, which is what they want. A same sex couple being “married” is a joke; the idea of marriage is to legitimize offspring of the couple. No same-sex couple can have a child by coitus. They have to adopt or use surrogates, that does not mean they are “married”. If they want to have a committed social contract, sobeit, but by no stretch of the definition are they “married” as a heterosexual couple are.

HE was the One that named it marriage, not human beings. And, in no way does homosexuality match what blacks went through. And some still do to this day. Slavery in America was a stain on our history. But, in no way have homosexuals been treated like they were. They had fire hoses turned on them, DURING peaceful protests, police dogs were sicced on them, they were shot, houses & churches burned down. I’ve NEVER heard of homosexuals being treated to that kind of hatred. Blacks were considered subhuman back before the Civil Rights Act put a stop to a lot of it. I remember the day that the first little black girl had to attend a segregated school. If not for the National Guard protecting her, the mob would have torn her to pieces. I watched it on t.v. & was horrified at what I saw. So quit aligning yourselves with the civil rights struggle during the 50’s & early ’60’s. As a Christian, while I disagree with homosexuality, I don’t believe they should have to suffer the same horrible treatment. I have a friend that is gay, & in no way do I denigrate her. Grow up!

        Marriage is not a fundamental right. It is an agreement between a man and a woman. For many, it is a religious ceremony. The state can recognize that agreement and set requirements for it. Many religions do not accept or recognize gay marriage. In our country, people have an explicitly stated constitutional right not to accept it based on the expression of their religious beliefs.

I’m sick & tired of the left running roughshod over those that don’t agree with them. Apparently they think that THEY are the only ones entitled to freedom of speech. I hope they either protest before or after the Open, & don’t ruin that, but, I’m not holding my breath. One of these days, these people are going to face the Judge of all Judges, & it isn’t going to be pretty.

    It is pathetic that people who profess freedom would try to diminish the athletic achievements and honors of a 74 year old woman, just because she is a Christian. I am certain if she were a Muslim who believed in Sharia Law no one would be saying anything, even though Muslims kill gays. It is not “nice” to try to take away the honors she achieved for sports because a few trouble makers do not like her religious beliefs. Religious discrimination is against Australia’s Constitution as it is ours, and her beliefs have nothing whatsoever to do with her athletic accomplishments. Gays should shut up and quit trying to force their lifestyle on others. I am just as offended by them as they may be by Court, but apparently only liberals are allowed to be offended these days.           You need to read, Joe, and think. You’re the one who misunderstood what I wrote, but then mine needed to be followed a little closely to understand it, while yours was simply “None of this matters.”

          Let me explain mine to you, Joe, line by line. I wrote:

          “If none of this matters, why is Margaret Court unhappy about it.”
          That’s pretty clear … it sure does matter to Margaret.

          “If none of this matters, how are you here to write your [defeatist] sentiment.”
          Again, if none if “this” matters, 1.) how come you’re commenting?
          2.) If everyone were gay, none of us would be here, and you wouldn’t be around to comment.

          “If none of this matters, life is meaningless, imaginary, boring, in my head alone … and you don’t exist.”
          If EVERYTHING (life itself) doesn’t matter, then it is either meaningless or doesn’t really exist, or exists in my mind only and you don’t really exist because I made you up.

          “If none of this matters, God and His will doesn’t matter, and if that were true, none of this exists because even if I were God and this is only in my mind, then this DOES exist, and I say it DOES matter …. so you are wrong, I’m right, and you no longer exist … poof … until I tell you to return, Joe Geshel !!! SILENCE !!!!!”

          Taking it further, if even my concept of a being higher than myself doesn’t exist … or if I’m the only thing existing, and then I’m God … well … STFU little Joey!

I was conjecturing that if “life” boiled down to only the (real) person who was creating this conversation, in this case me, being “god” I could tell you anything I please, including abbreviations for bad words, or, [my] heaven forbid, the real things.
            So I guess you’re lucky I didn’t use the words, right oh ye of little imagination?

    A couple of truths: God created us out of pure love (he gets nothing out of it). In Leviticus, the act of a MAN having sexual relations with another MAN is condemned. It’s actually the act of fornication that’s being condemned here. It’s not the ATTRACTION of the men. About suicide, Judas was condemned to Hell because he would not ask God for forgiveness for what he’d done to Jesus, and chose suicide instead. God was ready to forgive him, but he would not ask. About sin, one has to KNOW that a thought, word or deed is wrong, intend to commit and carry through the thought, word or deed, knowing it’s wrong, but doing it anyway. An improper thought is not a sin — we ALL have them. It’s what we DO with it. Try our best to put it out of our mind with a distraction, a prayer or a change of venue. “The Bible” has many instructions for our best living. But context is very important. For example, in the Old Testament, adultery was punishable by stoning to death. Adultery is also included in the rules for conjugal relationships found in the same area as homosexual practice. But Jesus, The Fulfillment of God’s Word, changed MANY things that were proper under different circumstances. He brought us SALVATION from our sin, through Himself. We are ALL tempted to sin. The important thing is to admit the sin, sincerely ask God for forgiveness (as well as a person against whom you have knowingly and intentionally sinned), and sincerely intend to AVOID that sin forever. And, finally, worry about your OWN “house” before condemning anyone else. Advise, yes, but leave the judgement to God.

    Homosexuality is a choice. Sexual acts are choices made by individuals on the when, with whom, and how. The vast majority choose to do it with one from the opposite sex. Some choose to do it with one from their same sex. Other than when criminal force is used all sexual activity is a choice. One whose sexual activity has always been with someone of the opposite sex may well make a different choice in the future. And one who has made same sexual activity their choice may also choose to engage in opposite sex activity.

    Why some choose to have exclusive sexual activity with someone of their own sex is individual reasoning. The history of close encounters and the aftermath feeling that come to the fore influences how one will act when future intimacies avail. To say that someone has no choice in the matter is to conclude that they don’t have a mind of their own. That is demeaning of that individual in the worst way.

    So, Margret Court believes that when the homosexual choice is made it is a sin. Nothing wrong with believing that. No criticism needed. Her past accomplishments in tennis were awarded by naming a stadium after her. Nothing wrong with that. She is not trying to prevent any homosexual tennis players from playing there. The name of the stadium should not be changed because a small insular minority have an internal problem with the religious beliefs of Margret Court.

    Now you know!

    When the US Supreme Court decided that fudge-packers should have the right to marry, and that gay couples should be allowed to adopt children, any and all SANITY disappeared in this nation, and an “Anything goes” social climate replaced any and all possibility of domestic tranquility! Transgenders are now being inducted into our armed forces, even under James “Mad-Dog” Mattis, and US taxpayers will be footing the bill for their sex-change operations and hormone therapy. And female soldiers in our military will now have to “get used” to showering with perverted transgender males pretending to be females! The credibility of marriage itself is now coming under question, and young males are avoiding commitment like the plague! The same thing happened in Sweden when same-sex marriage was made legal! We either reverse the insane, ungodly trends which the Liberals are foisting upon us as a means of bringing down this Christian nation, or the Liberals will succeed!
