One of the most shocking scandals in the White House is about to be highlighted on an American crime-series.
The show will spotlight the affair between Bill Clinton and Monica Lewinsky, and bring to light some of the secrecy surrounding the illicit scandal.
But in a surprising twist, the show will take a liberal viewpoint, and attempt to blame right-wing groups for the impeachment of Bill Clinton after the scandal, based off a previously penned novel.
Breitbart News reported:
In February, Murphy told E! News that the series would explore the Lewinsky sex scandal as “right-wing” plot to “tear down” President Bill Clinton, and on “the other women” who were ensnared in the 1996 sex scandal, involving then-White House intern Monica Lewinsky, and the events that led to Clinton’s impeachment.
“It’s not really about Hillary Clinton. That book is about the rise of a certain segment of a right-wing group of people who despised the Clintons and used three women, Paula Jones, Monica Lewinsky and Linda Tripp to try and tear him down,” Murphy said.
The first season of American Crime Series was met with critical acclaim, as it covered the controversial trial of O.J. Simpson.
Now the series is turning its focus to a bigger scandal in history, which led to the impeachment hearings of a sitting President.
Breitbart News reported:
According to the Hollywood Reporter, the Ryan Murphy Productions chief has optioned author and CNN legal analyst Jeffrey Tobin’s 2000 book A Vast Conspiracy: The Real Sex Scandal That Nearly Brought Down a President.
The New York Times bestseller, acquired by Fox 21 Television Studios and FX Productions, will become the basis for a future American Crime Story season.
Not many have signed onto the project, perhaps due to the biased viewpoint the show is taking.
Breitbart News reported:
In February, Murphy announced that actress Sarah Paulson — who starred in the first season of his crime drama, The People vs. O.J. Simpson — has been confirmed for a role, but ruled out that it would be of then-First Lady Hillary Clinton.
The 51-year-old mogul has reportedly confirmed that his studio is looking actresses to portray Lewinsky and Tripp.
With the Clinton family currently buried deep in some very real controversy, it’ll be interesting to see how audiences of the show react to the information unveiled from the scandal, regardless of the leftist viewpoint.
The series focusing on the Clinton and Lewinsky affair is set to air as the second season of the American Crime Series, followed by a season focusing on the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.
