John McCain is the self-proclaimed “Maverick” of the Senate.
The longtime Senator loves to point out how he brilliantly works with both sides of the aisle, yet he’s sided with the Democrats when it counts the most.
And Sen. McCain has betrayed President Trump once again.
Coming off a terrible brain cancer diagnosis, the kind notorious for not having a high success rate, McCain was back at work over the last few days to vote on health care.
The bill failed and Sen. McCain made a bi-partisan speech where he pleaded for compromise and asked his colleagues to stop listening to loud-mouthed members of the media.
Then he changed his tune the very next day and voted against the Republican repeal and replace. It was a head-scratcher considering he voted for it the day before, and voted to rescind Obamacare back in 2015.
Does McCain just become anti-Trump when it fits his schedule?
Just yesterday, President Trump banned transgenders from serving in the military because the medical procedures were too expensive and a distraction.
Sen. McCain and other GOP senators publicly protested the President’s decision.
Then McCain thumbs his nose at his fellow GOP senators and President Trump by flip-flopping on the “skinny” repeal of Obamacare.
The Washington Times reported:
“Drained by self-inflicted wounds, shifting aims and unrelenting protests, Republicans’ push to kill off President Obama’s signature health law sputtered out of gas early Friday, as Senate leaders failed to rally the votes for a significantly pared-down repeal bill in a vote after midnight.
Sen. John McCain, the Arizona Republican who stormed back to Washington after a shocking cancer diagnosis, cast a pivotal “no” vote as three Republicans linked arms with every Democrat to doom the plan.
The vote leaves President Trump without a clear path to repeal and heaps grave doubt on the GOP’s seven-year promise to dismantle the Affordable Care Act, though Mr. Trump quickly pivoted to a new Plan B — “let ObamaCare implode.”
Republican Sens. Susan Collins of Maine and Lisa Murkowski of Alaska also rejected the plan, though both had balked at GOP efforts earlier in the week, casting Mr. McCain’s vote as the decider.”
And then there was the transgender issue.
Breitbart reports:
GOP Senators John McCain and Orrin Hatch are objecting to President Donald Trump’s forceful rejection of the progressives’ demand that the Pentagon help some service members live as members of the opposite sex.
“Any American who meets current medical and readiness standards should be allowed to continue serving,” said a morning statement by Sen. McCain, who appears to accept the claim that a person’s “gender identity” should be endorsed by the Pentagon and enforced on other soldiers.
There is no reason to force service members who are able to fight, train, and deploy to leave the military—regardless of their gender identity.
We should all be guided by the principle that any American who wants to serve our country and is able to meet the standards should have the opportunity to do so—and should be treated as the patriots they are.
John McCain is full-on anti-Trump.
In fact, Republican leadership is failing because they don’t have President Trump’s back.
And if they don’t start getting their acts together soon, they and the American people will be in for a rude awakening come the 2018 midterms.
