A popular TV show has increasingly become more politically-charged as its seasons continue to be aired.
The show most recently included subtle dialogue for gun-control, and was sponsored by gun control groups.
Now, the question is being asked – is this show just one big liberal protest?
ABC’s Designated Survivor is about a lowly government worker who was suddenly thrust into the position of President after a catastrophic event.
While the main character is classified as an Independent candidate, the show is definitely more liberally charged.
A gun-control advocacy group is boasting about its help in writing the script for a pro-gun control episode of the show.
Breitbart News reported:
The Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence is boasting of how they worked with the writing team of ABC’s Designated Survivor to help craft the gun control language used in the April 5 episode.
On November 25, 2016, Breitbart News reported that gun control groups were actively working with the directors and/or writers of various television programs and movies to push a gun control message. Michael Bloomberg-funded Everytown for Gun Safety worked with Netflix’s House of Cards to push gun control during season four of the series, and the Brady Campaign helped with an episode of The Good Wife in order to promote gun control as well.
The November 2016 movie Miss Sloane was directed by John Madden, who admitted the film was an effort to lessen opposition to gun control. He said, “As we refer to in the film, the fallacy that any form of gun regulation is a slippery slope to confiscation is an idea that seems to have extraordinary persuasive power.”
So far, the show has also been questioned for its parody of Director James Comey and his political investigations and the Democratic National Convention attempted to condemn the show even.
Breitbart News reported:
“Whereas, the ABC TV show ‘Designated Survivor’ portrays a fictional FBI Director as being blackmailed into confessing to a crime he did not commit, and … Whereas, the portrayal of this situation is unbelievable and could result in the undermining of faith in the FBI…” the resolution states..
The parallel to Director Comey was questionable at best.
The show has not paralleled President Trump, nor do they want to parallel the country’s leader apparently, though the show was written before his actual election.
In an interview, Kiefer Sutherland commented on the current political landscape in terms of the show, and was more outwards with his opinions.
Breitbart News reported:
“We’re in uncharted territory,” Sutherland continued. “This show was written long before Trump announced his candidacy, let alone became president. Who would have thought that we would be doing a show that was not only a complete deconstruction of the government followed by the reconstruction of the government, then we would elect a guy whose main partner is known for saying ‘I want to tear the government down.’ We couldn’t have predicted that in a million years. It is kind of odd. I think if we can actually take the ideology out of the discussion and actually have the discussion with common sense as what will win the day? That’s a very interesting alternative point of view — and we will be using real facts.”
Ultimately, the show is one that has fallen into a liberal trap rather than focusing on entertainment purposes.
While the show is popular across many demographics of viewers, their push of progressive policies on the American people will surely have an effect on their ratings.
