Left-wing zealots have zero tolerance for differing opinions.
They either shoot down their adversaries, or simply deny their right to speak at all.
Now the left is calling for Hollywood to implement something they claim to hate: censorship.
Gun control activists are petitioning for companies with streaming platforms to remove NRATV from their respective services.
From The Daily Caller:
Activists fighting for more firearms restrictions following the shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Fla., are targeting companies such as Apple and Amazon for failing to cut ties with the National Rifle Association (NRA).
There are currently a number of petitions calling on the two aforementioned tech giants — as well as others both equally big like AT&T and Google, and relatively small like Roku — to drop NRATV from their respective video streaming platforms.
“NRATV is the media arm of the gun lobby,” Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America wrote in their public appeal. “It propagates dangerous misinformation and inflammatory rhetoric that pits Americans against each other and furthers their agenda of guns anywhere, for anyone, no questions asked.”
Everytown for Gun Safety also has its own petition, although the page is virtually the same.
There are other similar and coinciding grassroots efforts as well.
It’s not only advocacy organizations that are getting involved. The A.V. Club, an entertainment website owned by the satirical digital media company The Onion, is asking people to tell NRATV, “The NRA’s online video channel whose anti-media, pro-Trump rhetoric makes Fox News look tame by comparison, to f*** right off.”
Companies and the platforms cited by Everytown for Gun Safety include AppleTV, Amazon Fire TV, Google’s Chromecast, and Roku. The advocacy organization believes the platforms are enabling “NRA’s dangerous rhetoric.” AT&T, with its DIRECTV broadcast satellite service, is also highlighted.
NRATV, self-described as “America’s Most Patriotic Team on a Mission to Take Back The Truth,” has roughly 260,000 followers on Twitter. The video arm’s main website lists it is available to watch on four of the biggest streaming and digital media players.
Proponents of increased gun control are trying to continue to deprive the NRA of resources and outreach capabilities by limiting its communications, much of which is afforded through private business deals. Multiple companies, like United Airlines, Hertz, and Best Western, have already announced plans to terminate special benefits for NRA members, and the latest push against its TV channel is yet another avenue for protest.
This is just the left’s latest attempt to control speech.
They have no problem calling NRA spokeswoman Dana Loesch a “murderer,” but then balk at the description of the actual Parkland shooter as “insane” or “psycho.”
Nuance is only allowed when it fits their ideological aims.
