President Trump is going to have his hands full come 2020.
We’re not even a year into his presidency and already people can’t stop talking about who will run against him at the end of his term.
And now one betting website has this person sitting as Trump’s leading rival in a 2020 presidential bid.
Breitbart reports:
“When it comes to predicting who will be president in 2020, ElectionBettingOdds.com, a site run by Maxim Lott and John Stossel of Fox Business News, shows that actual people betting actual money in this category ($355,000) put Oprah Winfrey at the top of the Democrat heap.
In the wake of her Golden Globes speech on Sunday, those placing bets on 2020, rank Winfrey’s odds at assuming the Oval Office second only to President Trump.
While Trump sits at 28.2 percent, Winfrey is at 8.5 percent — a full 2.8 percent climb in just one day.
Winfrey’s 8.5 percent places her above every named Democrat, including Senators Kamala Harris, Elizabeth Warren, and Bernie Sanders, who sit at 6.4 percent, 5.8 percent, and 5.0 percent, respectively.
Lagging even further behind are former Vice President Joe Biden at 3.0 percent and former First Lady Michelle Obama with 2.9 percent.
Hillary Clinton, who has twice run for president and lost, is given only the odds of 1.6 percent. Senator Cory Booker is little better at just 1.9 percent.
New York Governor Andrew Cuomo is in even worse shape at 0.7 percent.
Senator Tim Kaine, Clinton’s 2016 running mate, is at 0.6 percent.”
The good news is at least Hillary Clinton has a limited chance of running again.
That will save us all from a massive headache come 2020.
But is Oprah Winfrey a legitimate candidate and contender to run against Trump?
Following her widely lauded speech at the Golden Globes on Sunday, rumors of a Presidential bid spread like wildfire – mostly thanks to the mainstream media.
However some close to Winfrey did suggest that she would consider running if the American “people” wanted her to.
Of course by “the American people” they mean “Democrats”.
But if Winfrey were to get the Democratic nomination, one poll suggests she’d have a dominant lead over Trump as well.
The Hill reports:
“A new poll from conservative-leaning pollster Rasmussen finds Oprah Winfrey beating President Trump by 10 points in a hypothetical 2020 matchup.
Forty-eight percent of respondents said they would vote for Winfrey, compared with 38 percent who said they would vote to reelect Trump. Fourteen percent were undecided.
Among Democrats, 76 percent said they would support Winfrey, as would 22 percent of Republicans and 44 percent of independents. The president gets the support of 66 percent of Republicans, 12 percent of Democrats and 38 percent of independents.
Talks of Winfrey running for president have quickly gained traction after she gave a powerful speech about sexual harassment and racial justice at the Golden Globes on Sunday.
Fifty-five percent of those polled have a favorable view of Winfrey, and 34 percent have an unfavorable one. According to Rasmussen, 55 percent disapprove of Trump’s job performance, while 44 percent approve.
Sources close to Winfrey have said that while she is “intrigued” in the idea, she is not actively considering a presidential bid. Despite this, “Oprah 2020” merchandise has swept online retailers in the days following her speech.
Trump, who has praised Winfrey in the past, appearing on her show and even speculating choosing her as a running mate, said Tuesday that he doesn’t think she will run, but if she does, he could beat her.
“Yeah, I’ll beat Oprah,” Trump said. “Oprah will be lots of fun.”The White House also said that Trump would “welcome the challenge” to run against Winfrey.
Rasmussen polled 1,000 likely voters in the two days after Winfrey’s Golden Globes speech, and the survey has a margin of error of 3 percentage points.”
Regardless of the hypotheticals, Winfrey’s best friend, Gayle King, did reportedly say that while Winfrey was not considering a run, she is “intrigued.”
Of course by “intrigued” hopefully she means “no.”
