Al Franken is as cuckoo as a cuckoo clock.
The former Saturday Night Live star turned Senator of Minnesota is one of the leading contenders for the Democratic nominee for president in 2020.
But Franken just made a laughably delusional comment about the Fake News epidemic.
Breitbart reports:
Thursday on San Francisco’s KQED-FM, Sen. Al Franken (D-MN) accused Trump voters of preferring what he called ‘fake news.’
Franken said, “Basically, we have this country, people self-sort and get their information from different sources that confirm their own bias.
There are a lot of Americans getting their news from those kinds of sources — Rush Limbaugh, Fox News.”
Discussing Russian meddling in the 2016 presidential election, Franken said, “What happened in the election—and by the way, the intelligence committees should be, and the Justice Department which isn’t doing this evidently—should be working on how to prevent this from happening again.
So what happened was they hacked the DNC, they hacked Podesta, and then they had a thousand trolls.”
He continued, “They had all these trolls sending out fake stories that got picked up by people’s Facebook. And Trump voters preferred fake news that was being put up by the Soviets—I’m sorry, the Russians—and by other people.
And that’s part of what this coordination, and we’re going to be looking into— whether that was coordinated.
And so you put out this narrative about how corrupt Hillary was and people bought into that. And they sent it to each other.
That was part of what the Russians did. That was a big part of what their effort was.”
Al Franken has been in the Senate since 2008 and in his second term, he’s considered Minnesota’s junior Democratic Senator.
Franken is currently on a tour promoting his newest book “Al Franken: Giant of the Senate.”
In the book, he trashes some of his Senate colleagues, and apparently he hates Sen. Ted Cruz.
Franken also claims that he keeps his jokes to himself instead of clapping back sarcastically at his colleagues, a trade that he obviously learned that earned him a spot on SNL in the late 80s.
One passage he wrote in his newest book read:
“I could be funny in the office, but only with members of the staff, not in meetings with visitors.
It was also okay to be funny on the floor with my colleagues, as long as I wasn’t loud enough to be picked up by C-SPAN microphones. And, for God’s sake, no physical humor!”
And at a time when the Democratic Party is unraveling at a rapid rate, Franken is one of the few candidates that lost anti-Trump liberals are turning to.
But Franken insists he’s not running for president against Trump in 2020.
The Minnesota Senator’s office said in a statement:
“Sen. Franken is not going to run for President in 2020.
He will, however, spend the next several years fighting on behalf of Minnesota families — working on issues like income inequality, education, college affordability, health care, equal rights, and on behalf of consumers and small businesses.”
But all presidential candidates pretend they’re not going to run until they announce that they do.
By doing it that way, the excitement that they’re running is fresh in everyone’s minds. If they announce too early, interest surely dies off by election time.
The crazy Stuart Smalley is gearing up for a presidential bid – you can bet on it.
What do you expect from Stuart Little? C’mon his brain is his namesake!!!
